We are hiring a Systems Application Developer in our St. Thomas, ON location!

 

This role will craft and develop applications, reports and interfaces while investigating and following best practices at Masco Canada.  This includes writing specifications, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. You will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle.

What You Will Do:

Development

  • Collaborate with developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.

  • Generate/maintain/schedule Sequel reports as per user requests.

  • Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.

  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software’s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.

  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.

  •    Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.

  • Build, maintain and document new and existing system interfaces.

 

Service Desk

  • Provide tier 2 support by solving issues and analyze applications related to support incidents raised to the development group.

 

Operational Management

  • Collaborate closely with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.

  • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.

  • Write programming scripts to improve functionality and/or performance of company applications.

  • Design, run and supervise software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.

  • Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.

  • Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process.

  • Train end users to operate new or modified programs.

  • Act as a backup for the Application Development Manager.

 

Who You Are:

  • 3 years of related work experience

  • Analytical ability to scope and narrow down a problem with hardware or software.

  • Driven to research and resolve a problem.

  • Experience to understand when an issue is out of scope.

  • Able to estimate the effort required to resolve an issue and recommend accordingly.

  • Must possess superb communication and interpersonal skills including written proposals and visual presentations.

  • Have a demonstrable understanding of Databases and database concepts (Unidata, Access, SQL).

  • Can identify and handle business risk issues during the project development cycle.

  • Have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.

  • Possess a solid understanding of web development tools.

  • Able to work optimally with various user personalities.

  • Must possess a solid understanding of Windows and Unix operating systems.

  • Must possess the drive to accept and learn new technologies.

  • Able to work as individually or as part of a team.

  • Can coordinate workload and optimally handle various tasks.

  • College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering and 3 years related experience

  • Knowledge/experience with the following would be considered an asset

    • JD Edwards development

    • Jitterbit application knowledge

    • Sequel reporting

    • Visual Basic

    • SalesForce
