Data Integration and Operations Engineer

The Role

As a Data Operations & Integration Engineer within J.D. Power’s Data & Analytics unit you will be responsible for the development and routine maintenance of data transformation & reporting processes that support the Power Information Network’s ability to provide near real-time market intelligence and unparalleled transparency to the retail automotive landscape.

Impact

This is an important developmental position as the database plays a crucial role in transforming PIN transactional data into digestible information for key decision-makers within automotive manufacturers, suppliers, dealer groups and industry analysts. Supporting this operation will provide opportunities to participate in ad hoc data/ industry analysis and new business development activities in addition to standard data operations

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy & integrity of data & applications through analysis, coding & problem resolution
• Provide ongoing maintenance of legacy platforms and upgrades to next generation to enhance capacity, capabilities, and efficiency. Includes development of data pipelines from on-premises (SQL Server) to cloud-based storage locations (GCP)
• Re-engineering existing Excel & SAS based reports to a more robust & fully automated reporting solution
• Analyze & translate functional specifications into technical specifications.

• Master’s degree and 3+ years’ work experience with related technologies (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ work experience
• Solid technical competency, general programming skills
• Excellent problem-solving & troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication skills
• Database experience and programming in SQL, T-SQL or PL/SQL (required)
• Demonstrated expertise in building pipelines and transformations in AWS / Google cloud platforms
• Experience with Talend, SSIS or related data integration tools
• Experience with SSRS, Eclipse BIRT reporting tools (desired)
• Demonstrated expertise with SAS, Python & Advanced Excel data analysis tools (desired)
