Fibre Implementation Manager

Start.ca is currently looking for a highly talented Fibre Implementation Manager to join our growing team! As a Fibre Implementation Manager you will be responsible for the overall strategy behind fibre builds for Start.ca and for all aspects of fibre project management, including obtaining permits, preparing tenders, budgets, and estimates for all fibre related projects. The Fibre Implementation Manager will design the footprint for the fibre strategy and will work with construction personnel to ensure project construction is executed in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the integrity of design and ensuring feasibility and costing of projects

What you’ll be doing:

Providing thought leadership and direction to the Fibre Implementation team.
Managing individual and team performance by providing timely performance evaluations, constructive feedback, coaching, and growth opportunities.
Partnering with the People & Culture team on all matters related to performance issues, talent acquisition/management, and on-boarding/off-boarding.
Managing project activities throughout the project life-cycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, scheduling, documentation, budget, and other factors.
Conducting cost-benefit analyses, risk analyses, and ROI calculations to determine project feasibility.
Building and maintaining rapport with third party contractors, government officials, landlords, building owners, and service clients.
Coordinating and directing the buy-out of trade contracts and ensure all contractual issues are resolved and dealt with in a timely manner.
Closely monitoring the efforts and billing of third-party workers, such as consultants, contractors, and other specialists.
Tracking all project costs to ensure completion within budget; procure extra budget funding where necessary.
Working with building owners to develop easements rights for Start.ca.
Liaising with different groups around all network, permit, and OSP issues.
Driving company vans/vehicles.
Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role today and the role as it may evolve.

What we are looking for:

Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, CAD Design, a related program of study, or equivalent experience.
7-10 years of experience in a network project management or related role coupled with 3+ years in a leadership role.
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop, mentor, and guide teams coupled with experience managing contractors under the terms of a contract.
Experience with CAD/City of London design regulations and requirements coupled with in-depth knowledge of planning policies and processes in the City of London.
Strong understanding of network topology/architecture and fibre optic networks.
Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods. Exposure to and experience with City planning meetings and infrastructure builds.
Strong communicator with the sound ability to convey technical topics in user-friendly language and build trusting relationships with internal teams and leaders quickly and effectively.
Superb organizational and project management skills with the ability to work on and manage multiple complex projects at once.
Strong critical thinking abilities with the ability to identify business problems, break them down, and provide and execute innovative solutions.
Able to read blueprints, schematics, field drawings, and OSP records (data, maps, fibre network designs, etc.).
Knowledge of Provincial and Federal guidelines, codes, standards, and legal requirements that may be applicable.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing environment and be flexible when priorities shift.
Able to perform computer work, including typing and other fine motor movements for up to 80% of each shift.
Valid G level driver’s license and able to provide a driver’s abstract to meet CVOR requirements.
