Research Specialist (Entry Level)

 

Location: Hybrid (Toronto, ON or London, ON, combined with work from home)

The Role:

Research Specialist role at Info-Tech means flexibility, inclusiveness, learning & development, internal career mobility, and strong relationships. In this role, new graduates, and those in the early stages of their career, will build on the knowledge and experience they’ve acquired through post-secondary education and early work experiences. The work carried out will advance critical skills they will carry through their careers. Some of which include, business acumen, research, project management, written and verbal business communications, global client-facing experience, meeting and session facilitation, insight analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

A Research Specialist creates and deliver client-driven, project-based, practical research that helps Info-Tech customers, referred to as Members, to drive measurable results in their organizations.

We are recruiting multiple Research Specialists for various teams across the Research Department, covering topics like, Data & Analytics, IT Strategy, Digital Transformation, IT Infrastructure & Operations, Software/Technology Research, IT People & Leadership, Organizational Design, Financial Management for IT, Security, Risk, Privacy & Compliance, Etc.

 

What you will do, includes, but not limited to:

 

Research!

  • Developing surveys & interview questions and coordinating primary research interviews with subject matter experts from the topic area of your assigned research project.
  • Conducting interviews, finding, and reading relevant literature related to your assigned topic, and using the information gathered to come up with your insights on the topic.
  • Collaborate with more senior Analysts and the Lead, and sometimes other teams, to help develop frameworks or methodologies, and building supporting tools and resources to publish on the Info-Tech website for Members to access.

 

Support Member Calls

  • Participate in calls with senior Analysts and Members to develop your knowledge on Info-Tech’s published research and call processes, with a view to eventually leading your own calls.
  • Listening to the information provided by Members and taking notes on recommendations given to Members by Analysts on the ways they can use our research to work through a challenge or project.
  • Using our case management software to completing case maintenance for your member calls.

 

Support Workshop Delivery

  • Support Workshop Leads to deliver both high-quality virtual and in-person workshops to Members.
  • Throughout the workshop, helping the Lead to collect and analyze activity outputs from participants and compiling them into a polished final deliverable for the Member at the end of the engagement.

 

Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Support

  • Develop and provide written collateral to other departments like Sales, Workshop Delivery, Consulting, Public Relations & Marketing teams, as needed.
  • Work with senior Analysts to help design and build of high-quality keynote/other presentations.

 

To be successful, you will need:

 

Education and Experience

  • Required to have post-secondary education in Business, Computer Science/IT, Data & Analytics/Data Science, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, & Compliance, Accounting/Finance, Public Policy/Administration, or other related.
  • Dean’s list in final two years of study will be advantageous. May be asked to provide unofficial post-secondary transcripts in your application along with resume.
  • Academic scholarships/awards are an asset
  • Beneficial, but not required - some practical experience in one or more of the following domains: Related IT work experience, facilitation, research, data analysis, teaching, software, market research/intelligence experience.

Work Arrangements: Core business hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am – 6 pm, with 1-hour lunch break (40-hour work week). Flexibility to adjust hours, upon discussion with Practice/Research Lead. Must be available adjust work hours periodically to service Asia-Pacific (APAC) and European clients.

 

Travel: The ability and flexibility to travel occasionally for business purposes may be necessary; but only in situations where local Government Health and Safety regulations permit.

 

Travel Visas: May be required to obtain appropriate work Visa(s) for the country to which would be travelling
