Reporting to the Manager, Procurement, Planning, and Inventory, the Senior Buyer is accountable for managing critical supplier relationships and overseeing procurement activities to ensure the timely delivery of project and aftermarket parts. This role emphasizes achieving on-time delivery (OTD) at the most cost-effective rates, while maintaining high standards of quality, adherence to specifications, reliability of sources, and addressing urgent needs. The Senior Buyer is expected to adhere to procurement best practices and procedures within a dynamic, product and project-based, custom engineering environment.

This position is part of the Procurement, Planning, and Inventory department located in London, Ontario and will be hybrid.

In this role you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of MRP outputs, execute rescheduling action messages, process purchase orders (PO) and requests for quotations (RFQs), and coordinate all procurement activities to meet demand requirements.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date purchasing information for all components, including lead-time, pricing, forecasting, inventory stocking levels, and country of origin.
  • Manage and optimize inventory levels, ensuring the availability of appropriate materials throughout product lifecycle.
  • Participate in cross-functional sourcing projects and negotiate supplier agreements.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, including engineering, quality, project engineering, product management, and finance departments.
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies (GR/IR) in collaboration with the accounts payable (AP) team.
  • Identify cost-saving and process improvement opportunities through ongoing review of spend categories in conjunction with sourcing and finance teams.
  • Contribute to the implementation of strategic supplier development programs, ensuring timely procurement and identifying supply chain risks.
  • Measure and ensure supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, cost, inventory reduction, and quality performance targets.
  • Possess experience working with product lifecycle management, document control, and quality management systems.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Post-secondary education in related field preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 Years of purchasing experience
  • SCMP or CSCP certification
  • Proven knowledge Inventory management

It would be nice if you also possess:

  • Custom Engineered Projects experience
  • Background in electronics/electrical technology
  • Proven experience in negotiation and managing projects.
