The EventConnect internship program has been designed to provide students with workplace learning experiences that allow for both personal and professional growth opportunities. We provide an experience that allows the intern to learn by doing, with a specific work portfolio dedicated to the intern, while leaving space for the intern to be curious and explore all aspects of the business. The internship program has been running for over 6+ years at EventConnect and has successfully hired many interns into full-time positions which remain with the company today! 

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Event Management Intern will work alongside the Operations Team and report to the Director of Account Management. 

 

The EventConnect operations team comprises three departments that help support EventConnect’s 400 Partnerships, 25,000 Hotel Relationships, and 12,000 Clubs and Teams that operate on the EventConnect system. Our mission is to provide unparalleled service and support for all sectors of the youth sports industry that operate on the EventConnect system.  

 

In this role, you will work on a range of tasks and projects that will help support the entire operations department to achieve its goal of supporting event owners, hotels, teams and guests on the EventConnect platform. 

 

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Through the EventConnect internship program, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with leading Event Associations and Facilities in the youth sports industry and develop skills in:  

 

  • Effective and professional communication: Convey important information, liaise with stakeholders, and coordinate with teams and participants
  • Time Management: Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Project Management: Effectively coordinate tasks and timelines ensuring a smooth execution of the Event Lifecycle 
  • Problem-Solving: Enhance confidence in navigating business challenges and finding creative solutions for internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic planning and risk management: Learn to Identify business  opportunities through partner connectivity and how to mitigate potential risk 
  • Adaptability and change management:  Adjust plans and strategies for unforeseen circumstances or changing business needs to ensure successful outcomes that align with business objectives and partners' needs 
  • Presentation skills:  Evolve presentation skills to effectively communicate ideas, engage your audience, and convey information with clarity
  • Customer Retention and high level of service: Develop a deep understanding of customer service and how to make a customer happy 
  • Technical Literacy:  Build upon technical skills and develop confidence in navigating system workflows, data management and CRM systems 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Account management software technical support and software training
  • Develop and execute specific account strategies alongside the account management team ( i.e. videos, presentations, strategy documents)
  • Provide additional support to Account Managers on enterprise partnerships through stages of the event preparation lifecycle. 
  • Assist with compliance reservation changes and cancellations, inputting confirmation numbers.
  • Assist with Additional Room Requests and hotel follow-ups 
  • Assist Team Relations with Blocking and Consumption Strategies
  • Assist with team registration

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in a University or College program in Sports Event Management or Travel and Tourism 
  • Passion for event management, sports, tourism, and technology 
  • Strong written and verbal communication 
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with others
  • Driven with the ability to work independently on projects or as  part of a team
     

REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to reliable high-speed internet 
  • A quiet and private place to work
  • Desk & chair
  • Attend in-office meetings when required
     

COMPENSATION/ OFFERING 

  • $18.00 per hour 
  • Educational & experience opportunities such as attending trade shows or client meetings
  • Monthly in-person office time. Hotel stay and per diem are covered for days in the office for remote employees who live outside of London and surrounding areas.
