Manufacturing Process Engineer
 

PURPOSE OF POSITION

 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role will initially focus on supporting a lean, Just in Time, manufacturing model with overall responsibilities that also include; providing technical support for production equipment, driving operational process improvements and delivering increased productivity. As a Manufacturing Process Engineer you are responsible for overall efficiency and collaborating with EHS to ensure safe operation of production equipment while maintaining the highest standards of product quality.

 

Be responsible for the operation of the plant:

  • Plan and implement all plant infrastructure capital improvements
  • Maintain equipment using preventative maintenance programs
  • Drive process improvement projects focused on increasing equipment utilization and resource efficiency

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Utilize the Management of Change (MoC) process to validate and gain consensus between cross functional teams
  • Identify, develop, plan and implement infrastructure capital projects, factory layout changes, new product assembly cells and material presentation to the line
  • Develop and maintain all critical plant equipment preventative maintenance programs
  • Establish and maintain production cycle times based on time studies to support capacity planning and resource allocation
  • Drive improvements to on-time-delivery and customer satisfaction through reduced delivery lead times
  • Organize, implement and maintain production process flow to maximize throughput and minimize space usage
  • Develop further understanding of manufacturing methods by reviewing process flows, production schedules, and engineering specifications to introduce new manufacturing techniques
  • Determine how to manufacture products or deliver services with the greatest efficiency
  • Develop, maintain and/or improve standard work instructions used for production, material handling and maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with EHS Coordinator on all EHS related initiatives
  • Plan and implement preventative and corrective actions that result from plant inspections and audits

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience including project management.
  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering an asset
  • Strong experience and skills in using CAD software
  • Experience in Production and Materials Management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Exceptional problem resolution and analysis skills
  • Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
