Who is a Benefits Administrator?

Reporting to the Manager of Benefits, the Benefits Administrator is responsible for administering and maintaining Group Benefits Programs within GoodLife, Fit4Less, canfitpro and GoodLife Kids Foundation for all existing plan members and newly eligible Associates.  This role is the primary administrator of benefits related tasks in Workday, ensuring data integrity and quality through review of Workday audits and reports, and reconciliation of the monthly billing statement.  This Associate facing role contributes to a positive customer experience where benefit inquiries are handled in a timely, accurate and professional manner.  The incumbent follows internal processes and policies necessary to ensure ongoing alignment with the organization’s Total Rewards Philosophy and guiding principles. Keeping current on legislative compliance, regulatory guidelines, and best practices in the group benefits space contributes to the ability to problem solve and provide guidance to plan members. 

 

What will you be doing?

  • Within the Workday system, acts as the Benefits Partner to initiate, review, process, and approve of benefit related events for existing and new plan members
  • Assists and guides Associates on how to initiate self-service changes in Workday
  • Processes late applicants, completes employer statements for disability claims and manages benefit tasks during leaves of absence
  • Builds and applies their knowledge of process and workflows, collaborating with peers and stakeholders to continuously improve processes
  • Runs ad-hoc and regularly scheduled reports and audits (daily, weekly and monthly) in order to ensure data accuracy and reconciliation between various sources
  • Conducts annual reviews to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Contributes to the maintenance and improvement of the benefits program, by providing feedback, insights, ideas to the Manager
  • Develops and maintains work-related documentation and instructions
  • Participates in external market surveys, annual benefit renewal meetings, and contributes to the organization’s bench strength in Benefits / Total Rewards  
  • Provides timely, accurate and professional responses to Associate inquiries, documenting and recording interactions and decisions 
  • Follows up to ensure decisions have been processed in the system accurately
  • Provides guidance, education, and resources to Associates so they can make informed decisions
  • Understands and complies with regulatory guidelines around group benefits, keeping current with market trends in the group benefits space

 

Do you have what it takes?

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, human resources or related field
  • CEBS / GBA an asset
  • 3+ years of experience directly related to benefits administration (client, insurer or consulting / third party administrators)
  • Experience using Workday or a similar Human Resources Information System (HRIS), including running reports, audits, and queries
  • Previous client facing experience
  • Knowledge of group benefits administration
  • Proficient in the use of Excel to support analysis of large data sets, data reconciliation, etc. (e.g., formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
  • Current knowledge of legislative requirements/changes including Pension and Benefits Act, CHLIA
