Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located anywhere in Canada with occasional travel to head office required.

We are looking for a S enior DevOps Engineer.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Lead , the Senior DevOps Engineer will champion the transition to continuous and high velocity delivery and automated deployment using cloud based software provision ing while focusing on configuration management and source code management to enable the business to produce products faster and more efficiently. The Senior DevOps Engineer will manage and direct squad activities and empower development teams across multiple business areas through the introduction and development of best-in-class tools and processes.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope and be accountable to design and deliver modern solutions that are secure, compliant, cost-efficient, and meet technical, security, and business needs
  • Execute on the DevOps framework as defined by the Principal DevOps Engineer
  • Proactively identify areas of friction in current deployment processes and drive technical solution s to remove impediments
  • Work with portfolio leaders to identify existing services to transition to new digital stacks to meet modernization goals
  • Ensure all functional and non-functional requirements are met and measurable in all environments
  • Ensure alignment and adherence to e nterprise technology, vendor management, and risk standards
  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex problems to determine root cause and possible solutions, requiring identification and analysis of appropriate courses of action
  • Work with customers to recommend iterations of practices, processes, methods and standards to improve customer outcomes
  • Mentor and support team members in technical competency, business acumen, and priority setting
  • Ensure leadership team receives timely updates related to any critical outages with an appropriate level of detail
  • Consult, review, and approve documentation for programs and projects
  • Design and implement cloud-based solutions that comply to Canada Life’s cyber security, data security, and risk requirements
What You Will Bring
  • 6 + years of multi-disciplinary experience in a large, complex organization
  • Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborati ve stakeholder relationships across multiple geographies and business functions
  • Ability to effectively communicat e high-level concepts and solutions with t echnology and b usiness teams
  • You v alue simplicity and are unafraid to challenge technical constraints to utilize an iterative and agile approach
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure solutions, specifically in relation to cloud programs, platform migration, system security, enterprise directories, and cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of cloud network topologies and technologies
  • Experience working with t echnologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible or other Infrastructure as Code ( IaC ) tools
  • Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Vault etc..
  • Experience working with at least one of the major public cloud providers (Azure, GCP or AWS) and a willingness to continue to expand your knowledge
  • A s elf-starter with the ability to comfortably operate in ambiguity
