You will operate out of Dorchester at Audioscan which is one of our many global diagnostic brands. The other brands are placed in Denmark, UK, USA, and Germany. We sell our equipment in more than 100 countries through our own sales companies and external distributors.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Embedded Software Developer to join our team. This position is responsible for designing, developing, verifying, and maintaining embedded Linux platforms and embedded firmware for medical device products. Software will vary from device drivers, O/S software, and user application software. You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team of Software, Hardware, Mechanical engineers, and technicians. You must be an independent and self-motivated worker requiring little supervision. This is a full-time position, operating on-site in Dorchester, Ontario. You will report to the Director of Research and Development.

Responsibilities:

· Develop embedded Linux platforms for medical device products.

· Develop embedded firmware for audio applications.

· Collaborate with hardware designers and software developers on new designs and improvements to existing designs.

· Collaborate with domain experts to develop innovative solutions in the hearing instrument verification field.

· Software analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of new and existing software systems.

· Troubleshooting and diagnosing errors

· Provide cost and development time estimates.

· Staying current with technology in applicable disciplines.

· Other related responsibilities as assigned at times during the product development process.

Experience and qualities:

· 4+ years of working experience as an Embedded Software Developer

· Working with a Linux development environment

· Experience with embedded Linux build systems (PTXdist, Yocto, Build Root, etc.)

· Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and code review

· Knowledge of communication protocols and interfaces (TCP/IP, USB, SPI, I2C etc.)

· Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

· Creativity and desire to solve problems in a niche industry and apply a can-do attitude.

· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.

· Effective communication and organizational skills, with an attention for detail.

· Proficient with MS Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint.

· Experience in medical device industry is an asset.

Educational Requirements

The successful candidate(s) must have the following qualifications:

Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in:

· B.Eng/BASc/BESc Electrical, Electronics, Software, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
