As we continue to grow progressively, Libro is on a mission to find a passionately accountable full-time Director, Business Intelligence – Defensive Data & Governance supporting our London Administrative office.
This role is responsible for leading Libro’s defensive data strategy, using data as a strategic asset to minimize data risks and be an enabler for offensive data strategies. The role partners closely with the offensive data and foundational strategy leaders to guide Libro’s progressive data strategy. The role embraces best in class data governance leadership, strategic data and risk management frameworks to increase data integrity, ensure data privacy and regulatory compliance, and fraud prevention. Leading a defensive data strategy that is primarily concerned with data security, compliance, and risk mitigation, they are accountable to prioritize safeguarding Owner information, adhering to regulatory requirements, and protecting the institution's reputation. To achieve those objectives, the role leads and coaches a dynamic team of data professionals to manage, improve and transform data.
The Epic Human we are looking for will;
- Lead and develop Libro’s defensive data strategy with key stakeholders, to protect and supercharge Libro’s data.
- Ensure alignment of the defensive data strategy with overall business goals, working closely with offensive data strategy leaders to empower a data-centric culture.
- Oversee strategic third-party data partnerships, ensuring responsiveness to Libro’s data management and governance needs.
- Lead and develop a comprehensive business-led data governance strategy, framework.
- Lead a team of data professionals, promoting a collaborative culture centered on data ownership with a strong commitment to data governance and accountability.
- Establish team data practices, creating risk mitigation strategies to adapt to evolving compliance, privacy and security requirements.
- Meticulous about data governance, focusing on integrating new data sources, data quality, security, and compliance. Establishing robust data protection measures, protocols, and audit trails to ensure data is managed in a secure and compliant manner.
- Establish and promote data standards and metadata management practices that place a premium on data quality, integrity, and consistency for compliance, reporting, and decision-making purposes.
- Lead efforts to achieve and maintain compliance certifications related to data governance. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address data-related legal and regulatory issues.
- Heavy emphasis on strict compliance with existing regulations. Investing resources in ensuring that all data-related processes align with industry-specific and government regulations.
- As the key conduit between Data-warehouse and Libro’s business functions (data consumers), lead the ongoing development of Data-warehouse Requirements identification and conveying these to the Data Foundations group for incorporation into release cycles and other project or roadmap phases.

- Do you have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in fields such as Computer Science, Information Technology or Management, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- Do you have 7-10 years of previous experience leading a data management, information architecture, and/or business intelligence function or team.
- Do you have experience leading and/or building a team of data analyst, engineer and science professionals with complimentary skillsets along the data spectrum.
- Experience with relational – SQL – and multidimensional – MDX – query languages
- Experience with BI, data manipulation & data science toolsets and their application (Power BI, SQL, Python, R, etc.)
- Strong ability to develop interpersonal relationships, build engaging presentations, and has solid communication skills.
- Strong understanding of data strategy, data governance, and data management, particularly within the banking or financial industry.
- Being a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is an asset.
