We are looking for a SAP Functional Analyst (Senior Business Systems Analyst)

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Toronto, London, Winnipeg. 

 

About Lifeco’s Global Corporate Technology Team

Our Lifeco Corporate Technology group is searching for an SAP Functional Analyst to join our growing team.  You will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, develop your expertise and pursue leadership, within and outside of your role. You will work collaboratively with business leaders, senior architects, and other developers to design, develop, and deploy innovative solutions at regular intervals. The SAP Functional Analyst will be responsible for applying business and technical expertise to design, implement and support new business capabilities into SAP systems and recommend SAP and Accounting best practices.

 

What you will do 

  • The candidate will be responsible for delivering solutions using SAP Finance & Accounting (FICO) and/or SAP Business Warehouse (BW).
  • Facilitate design workshops with business stakeholders.
  • Produce solution blueprints, functional and technical designs/specifications for developers and/or end users.
  • Configure FICO and/or BW per functional designs.
  • Ensures configurations meet business requirements and enterprise-level policy guidance (e.g., architecture, security, risk) and ensures the translation of those processes, needs and requirements into related artifacts and documentation.
  • Produce test cases/scenarios and prepare test data to test all functionality identified in the functional design. Conduct unit, functional and integration testing, and log results.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues and defects through root-cause analysis and impact analysis.
  • Provide support to end users for issue resolution, user acceptance testing, and training.
  • Define detailed implementation plans, including deployment, cutover, and fall-back. Ensure that all objects have been promoted successfully to the production environment, and overall landscape integrity is maintained.
  • Guide and execute the knowledge transfer to business and support teams as per the knowledge transfer plan.
  • Apply, and ensure compliance with, all appropriate Canada Life IT standards (e.g., Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, ICOFR, etc.)

What you will bring 

  • University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 8 years of experience in the Information technology profession focused on ERP design and management.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP FICO related modules with SAP configuration and implementation experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP BW data modeling and design
  • Strong knowledge of BW reporting tools (e.g., BEx, Business Objects, MDX, Design Studio, SAP Analysis for Office)
  • Extensive experience in:
    • Large project scoping, estimating, and work management
    • Complex analysis and troubleshooting
    • Developing effective working relationships with the business, consultants, and IS
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to maintain and enhance collaboration across business and technology teams
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience translating business needs into clear designs and produce high-quality builds.
  • Experience performing unit and functional testing of designs.
  • Experience articulating functionality of systems to business and IT teams at various levels.
  • Strong ability to produce detailed documentation.
  • Strong analytical and excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to own the role and provide deep functional expertise of system capabilities.

Skills Considered an asset:

  • Basic understanding of IFRS17 concepts
  • Certification in SAP FICO module
  • Experience with CO allocations
  • Experience with BW/4HANA, S/4 HANA, BW Modeling Tools, Eclipse (Web IDE)
  • Experience with visualization and dashboarding tools such as SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office, SAP Analytics Cloud, and PowerBI
  • Experience with ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) platforms, more specifically, ServiceNow
