Senior IT Analyst (Applications)

 

Reporting to Senior Manager, Information Technology the Application Analyst provides technical guidance and support to staff members on existing and new deployments of server-based technology including MS Exchange, virtualization, storage, and other server administration duties. This role will also provide level 1 support for all the organization’s applications, integrations and related infrastructure including the end-user devices. This involves closely working with and supporting the Manager of Information Security in doing assessments, research, and analysis of IT operations to pre-empt issues before they arise as well as to resolve any issues when they arise.

The applicant must be a team player who has the skills to build trusting relationships with the business users and other internal and external key stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of all applications and data integrations allowing business users to be more productive with their day-to-day application use.

 

Operational Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager of Information Technology to lead and manage the development, implementation, and improvement of IT infrastructure, operations, and services.
  • Ensure the organization’s assets related to information technology including all end points (workstations, printers, etc.) and all software and applications are in optimum operating condition.
  • Support the Manager of Information Security in analyzing IT vulnerabilities and implementing methods to address the gaps for remediation.
  • Act as the primary point of escalations contact for issues and investigations related to all IT applications, integrations, tools, utilities, and end-user devices. This involves working with the business and, for issues that cannot be resolved locally, engaging the appropriate vendors or managed service providers.
  • Execute service delivery per the IT Service Management (ITSM) procedures published by the organization
  • Perform administrative tasks pertaining to server builds, access management, operating system upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, resource optimization, vendor fixes and monitoring
  • Maintain applications, processes, and maintenance procedures, perform tuning and documentation.
  • Ensure systems stay updated on all relevant patches and upgrades by overseeing Managed service providers.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT operations manual that describe the operations and interdependencies of all applications and data integrations.
  • Proactively monitor applications to ensure they are in an active state and are not reporting errors and that all data feeds to/from other systems have completed normally.
  • When incidents are discovered or have been reported by other users, take immediate action to put dependent systems and users on notice so that the subsequent activities do not proceed without having source or updated data.
  • Log, assign and follow-up on all incidents to ensure they are properly addressed updated and closed in accordance with predetermined Service Levels and established Incident and Problem Management processes.
  • Perform trend analysis to highlight recurring incidents and initiate root cause analysis (Problem Management)
  • Identify, research, and resolve technical problems pertinent to the applications and integrations, including code level analysis where possible.
  • Fulfil approved service requests from users for IT assets. These requests could range from simple password resets to requests for new hardware. When new assets are delivered, provide basic user training whenever possible to get the users operational as soon as possible.
  • Assist the management in planning all changes organization’s production environment to minimize disruptions.
  • Display commitment to productivity, effectiveness, and operational efficiency.

 

Project Responsibilities

  • Engage in project meetings when requested, to ensure they fully understand the operations of existing systems.
  • Work with the IT project teams to ensure a smooth transition from the implementation and warranty to regular production support. This includes reviewing project documentation to understand and update the IT operations manual so that the contents are kept current.

 

Education & Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
  • ITIL certification is preferred (or equivalent ITSM training/certification)
  • Hands on working experience on Microsoft Intune and Azure.
  • System Admin Experience preferred for working on O365 Admin Centre, Financial (Corporate Credit Cards) and Data Analytics (SAS Viya) applications in a cloud environment
  • A self-starter with the creativity to solve problems both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to learn new concepts, systems, and software independently and quickly
  • Experience in database / Server (Linux and Windows ) administration skills strongly preferred
