The content team at Hive Media Group is looking for someone who is enthusiastic about history and can turn that passion into viral content pieces. We want someone who is eager to learn content strategy and understand what makes our audience of history-lovers tick. This role is a great opportunity for an expert researcher and writer who wants to apply their history skills to a non-traditional industry. You could be writing about everything from why British soldiers were required to have mustaches, to vintage Hollywood Golden Age scandals, and to image-based content like Titanic passengers in real life versus the movie. 

*****This is a full-time, in-house position in London, Ontario (During COVID-19 we will be WFH indefinitely, with plans to reopen the office in 2022) **Applicants must submit a cover letter/resume with your application to be considered**

Responsibilities: 

•  Write original posts focused on a wide variety of topics 
• Develop various content types including long form articles, short-form engagement pieces, image articles, and news content 
•  Participate in daily and weekly feedback sessions 
•  Analyze trends and pitch new topics 
•  Revise published articles with new information when applicable 
• Create engaging headlines and social thumb images       

•  Lives and breathes history, viral-type stories, breaking news, & web culture 
• Can quickly develop stories from ideation through the final written word 
• Has an eye for attention-grabbing image selection that work on social media platforms 
• Can conquer obscure topics with fast and accurate research using traditional and non-traditional sources 
• Possesses mastery of the English language, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Organized with close attention to detail 
• Is able to continuously meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality 
• Strong ability to quickly understand the different voices and styles of our numerous websites 
• Experience in Wordpress and on social media platforms 
• 1 year of high-volume digital media writing experience in a professional setting
