Join our dynamic marketing team as a Public Relations & Social Media Manager where you'll play a pivotal role in elevating CARFAX Canada's brand awareness across key customer segments through Public Relations (PR), social media, and content marketing.
Reporting to the Director of Brand Marketing, you'll engage in impactful public relations activities that position CARFAX Canada as a trusted leader in vehicle history, valuation, and maintenance. You’ll support strategic communications work including corporate social responsibility (CSR), government relations and crisis communications. The Public Relations & Social Media Manager leads our social media strategy creating engaging and compelling content for multiple social media channels. You’ll help support search engine optimization (SEO) driven content development for our website and help bring our thought-leadership series, driving insights to life via video. Position Responsibilities
Public Relations Leadership
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key industry journalists, pitch relevant and compelling story ideas, and manage media requests, including spokesperson media training.
- Develop high-quality PR materials, such as press releases, media kits, speeches, and product launch communications.
- Oversee media monitoring and reporting, providing insights on impressions, sentiment, competitive landscape and industry trends.
- Drive impactful coverage in Canadian media outlets, ensuring positive impressions.
Lead Social Media Strategy
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy to amplify our brand awareness, engagement, and conversions.
- Oversee the creation and management of a cross-channel content calendar that aligns with product launches and in-market communications.
- Collaborate with our creative team to develop engaging mobile-first content that resonates with target audiences.
- Manage and optimize paid social media strategies, ensuring budget efficiency and long-term planning.
- Monitor platforms daily, provide community management, and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for growth.
Content Marketing Support
- Create SEO-driven content for our online platforms, including the Resource Centre and other key pages.
- Support thought-leadership initiatives, such as the Driving Insights series, to enhance brand authority.
Marketing Collateral & Messaging
- Assist with the creation of various marketing assets, including ad copy to landing pages, while ensuring alignment with the brand’s voice and style.
- Proofread and refine marketing materials to uphold accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain and evolve the organization’s messaging frameworks and style guidelines.
Education and Experience Required:
- 5+ years of experience in public relations and/or corporate communications.
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field, or post-graduate in public relations.
- Demonstrated experience garnering positive PR coverage for a brand and robust understanding of current media landscape.
- Expertise in creating and optimizing social media content on a variety of channels.
- Excellent knowledge of Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and other emerging social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Proficiency with marketing tools and platforms such as Hootsuite, Cision, HubSpot, Google Analytics, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Adobe.
- Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence (AI)-driven content generation tools and techniques, and the ability to leverage AI for creating and optimizing high-quality, engaging content.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
- Critical eye for proofreading communications to ensure accuracy and brand compliance.
- A strong emphasis on collaboration and teamwork.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Experience that would be considered an asset includes: experience with influencer marketing, proficiency in written French, video editing skills.
