Associate Scientific Writer

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide supervised writing support to document authors. Assist with development (or review) of research findings, regulatory documents, or their content (e.g., tables or appendices). Provide supervised research support for academic teams such as conducting reference searches, help to develop or run search strategies or perform literature review for systematic reviews. Help guide clinical fellows or other collaborators through systematic review requirements. Provide manuscript submission support by reviewing or editing draft documents, updating formatting, and checking against journal specifications. Collect and track author disclosures when requested. Participate in quality control review or editorial review on a timely basis that align with industry, regulatory and academic style and content guidelines and standards. Track progress and provide progress updates to stakeholders for assigned projects.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 Supervised Writing Support

• Assist authors with development of written research findings (abstracts, manuscripts, systematic reviews, presentations, etc.) or regulatory documents (protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports, etc.) that aligns with established standards and guidelines.
• Assist authors with development of content (exhibits, illustrations, tables, and appendices) for publications or study reports
• Provide progress reports to stakeholder(s).

 Supervised Research Support

• Support academic systematic review teams by performing literature review, developing search strategies, reviewing citations and/or performing data extraction under the direction of the lead author(s).
• Help guide clinical fellows or other collaborators through Alimentiv process for systematic reviews, consulting with senior writers as required.
• Regularly track timelines and progress for systematic review projects.
• Provide other research support for Alimentiv academic projects, as requested.

Manuscript Submission Support

• Provide detailed-oriented editorial and review support to manuscript writers.
• Compare draft manuscript to target journal specifications, updating formatting as required (e.g., complete submission checklist for final version if requested).
• Assist with collecting and tracking disclosures from authors when requested.

Editorial and QC Support

• Participate in quality control review for documents written by other authors when requested.
• Upon request, support study teams with review, editing or proof-reading of external grant submissions, study documents or templates, such as charters, informed consent forms, or study plans (safety, statistical analysis, etc.).

 Other Writing Support

• Assist with maintaining medical writing resources (such as the Endnote Library, Index Library, or other internal tools).
• Assist with writing or review of relevant training materials or work instructions when requested.
• Assist with development or editing of sales, marketing, communications, or other promotional materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a College Diploma/Degree with 1-3 years' work related experience and on-going training OR a minimum of an undergraduate degree from a relevant field of study (Life/Health Sciences Research/Biomedical Science or Writing).  In addition, the successful candidate will possess highly refined written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills and be self-motivated.
