Canada Life is seeking a Principal Engineer (Director level) to drive our adoption of Cloud.

 

This role will be pivotal in building and operationalizing modern, cloud platforms and applications. The successful candidate will combine excellent technical skills with great communication and the ability to present and advocate for a vision.

 

What you will do:

  • Technical Delivery: Lead teams that design/build/integrate modern public cloud capabilities, including infrastructure pipelines, security/policy as code, automated code delivery, automated testing, and automated application monitoring.
  • Advocacy and Teaching: Proactively work with internal teams to develop and action cloud technology roadmaps. Collaborate with Technology leaders to influence the evolution of practices, processes, methods, methodologies, and standards to drive improved customer outcomes
  • Security and Risk: Work in partnership with the risk, security and privacy organizations to design and implement cloud-based solutions that comply with Canada Life’s cyber security, data security, and overall risk appetite. Provide thought leadership and act in an advisory capacity to various governance councils

 

What you will bring:

  • Experience in a regulated environment and strategic vendor management
  • Degree/diploma in computer science, engineering, or equivalent work experience and 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure solutions, specifically in relation to cloud providers (AWS and Azure), platform migration, system security, enterprise directories, and cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with CICD (Gitlab) that drives automation, self-serve, and high re-use across the enterprise.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration Delivery models such as DevOps, including automation/infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills, including solving complex problems, impacting and influencing change, developing, linking, and communicating vision, as well as attracting, retaining, and developing talent.

The base salary for this position is between  $92,100.00 - $153,500.00 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
