CARFAX is looking for a creative and diligent Associate Editor who lives for assigning, editing and publishing unique content specific to CARFAX that will help drive traffic and user engagement to a new level. Editorial excellence, accuracy and consumers are always on your brain. This role will report directly to the Executive Editor.

This role has an expectation of 3 days in the London, ON office per week, subject to change based on future business needs. 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with the SEO team to identify high-value stories.
  • Assign, edit, and publish CARFAX content.
  • Manage relationships with a team of freelance writers and editors. Assign key content to this team and ensure optimal content performance.
  • Help maintain the editorial calendar.
  • Collaborate closely with Executive Editor and Managing Editor, SEO team, development teams, and product-management teams to optimize content for traffic, engagement, and conversion.
  • Assist various Product teams with copywriting requests.
  • Follow CARFAX editorial standards, guidelines, and processes so content meets regulatory guidelines and is compliant with our partners and legal team.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience editing online content for consumer websites (as an editor or similar).
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field of study, or commensurate experience.
  • Excellent grammar and punctuation skills with ability to write and edit copy under publication deadlines.
  • Experience with online publishing, including using a CMS (WordPress), laying out a webpage, and editing photos.      
  • Exceptional organizational skills. Proven experience working with large-scale, fast-paced content production.
  • Understanding of role SEO plays in identifying topics as well as engaging users.
  • Self-starter with journalistic curiosity who learns quickly and is eager to adapt with the business.
  • Must understand how to clearly communicate requirements to freelance workers, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry is preferred, but not required.
