We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Accountant to work in our London, Ontario location. The Intermediate Accountant will support and maintain the general accounting reporting and practices for the organization. You will compile and analyze financial information to prepare and/or review necessary journal entries for properly stated ledgers and financial statements in accordance with regulations (e.g., GAAP) and company policy. You will also perform general bookkeeping and account management duties.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for calculation and filing of monthly and quarterly returns, VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales
  • Responsible for processing of payroll journal entries for all countries within Europe and completion of monthly payroll control reconciliations.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Preparation and completion of year-end US to German GAAP adjustments.
  • Completion of government body requested statistical returns
  • Co-ordination of incoming post and distribution to London based staff, including coding of supplier invoices.
  • Provides support to London AR team for cash collections and customer receipt allocations.
  • Assists with preparation of the annual statutory accounts.
  • Assists with completion of all tax and statutory audits.
  • Assists with month-end reconciliation work including preparation and review of binders.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years of experience preparing Financial Statements & Reconciliations with appropriate Audit Evidence.
  • College or University degree in Accounting
  • Comfortable working in a global matrix organization with the ability to build and leverage networks within an organization is desired
  • Ability to speak German is a plus!

 

  • Accumulates and consolidates monthly data, prepares and analyzes standard and custom internal financial reports, and supports the month end process including recording and reviewing journal entries, as required, and reconciliations.

  • Communicate and ensure compliance of accounting policies and procedures. 
  • Actively participate in team projects, including but not limited to SOX testing and audits. 
  • Successfully manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.  
  • Drive continuous process improvement using DBS (Danaher Business Systems) tools
