Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Marketing Content Writer is responsible for creating various types of content including copy for the website, email, and collateral as well as blog posts, social posts, and press releases that address our target B2B audiences such as IT professionals and promote our brand.
In this role, you will research industry topics and trends, optimize content for organic search, revise and edit pieces, and collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure brand consistency.
What you will be responsible for:
- Content Development:
- Researching, developing and sourcing technical and non-technical content for the company’s website.
- Ensuring StarTech.com brand and product performance value propositions are carried through all content development.
- Understanding and evangelizing organization’s brand ideals and digital properties to create content that supports the company objectives and desired identity.
- Developing messaging long-form content for use in creating derivative campaign/theme content.
- Supporting marketing campaigns and ongoing programs by writing content/copy as required for various communication mediums.
- Project Planning and Collaboration:
- Working with marketing team to determine content needs and specifications.
- Creating schedules and resource plans for content production.
- Coordinating resources and assets to ensure content is produced and delivered on time and in accordance with established requirements.
- Cooperating with digital marketing team to create and publish web content, monitor and report on its effectiveness over time.
- Collaborating with marketing leadership to develop and prioritize content topics.
- Working closely with product performance, product management and customer success teams to ensure product/technology content is accurate and effectively communicates to our target audiences.
- Maintaining a content marketing plan that schedules all aspects of the creation and delivery of content throughout the year.
- Using target keywords to write copy that is optimized for search engines (SEO) while remaining entertaining and informative.
- Competitive Research:
- Staying abreast of current best content practices in the industry and review competitor websites to compare their activities with those of our company.

Essential Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, English or equivalent degree.
- Professional certification in marketing, public relations or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in professional and technical content writing.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing for business, advertising and technical audiences.
- Experience creating content for social media platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with acute attention to detail.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Proven ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization.
- Proven ability to gather requirements from stakeholders and gain consensus.
- Demonstrated experience working with marketing and product teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry experience in IT, AV, connectivity accessories or hardware solutions will be considered as an asset.
- Experience using Google Analytics.
