Full Time, Permanent
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000
Vacancy Status: Existing Vacancy
Reports to: General Manager
9827 Longwoods Road and 531 Admiral Drive

For over 50 years, Armo-Tool has been a family-owned and operated manufacturing company specializing in custom tooling, automation, and advanced manufacturing solutions. We combine engineering expertise, skilled trades, and modern manufacturing capabilities to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions for our customers.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for approximately 200 employees across two businesses and two locations. This standalone role supports a non-union, multi-shift workforce and balances day-to-day HR leadership with several important improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will be practical, visible in the workplace, comfortable working independently, and able to build accountability through sound judgment, consistency, and strong partnerships with managers and employees.

Key Priorities
  • Lead implementation of a selected payroll and HR system in partnership with Finance and IT, including process design, data readiness, testing, training, implementation, and transition support. Finance will continue to process payroll.
  • Develop a stronger recruiting and hiring strategy, including broader sourcing channels, proactive talent pipelines, and improved methods for attracting skilled machining employees and automation engineering leaders.
  • Improve hiring-manager capability through consistent interviewing, candidate assessment, selection practices, and practical recruiting tools.
  • Coach and train managers to address routine attendance, performance, conduct, conflict, time-off, and day-to-day employee matters, with clear guidance on when HR involvement is required.
  • Partner with leadership over time to strengthen accountability, consistency, manager ownership, and workplace culture.
What You'll Do
  • Provide HR leadership, guidance, and support across both businesses and locations, resolving routine matters independently and presenting recommendations to the General Manager before significant actions are taken.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including performance management, attendance, discipline, investigations, accommodations, return-to-work planning, and terminations.
  • Lead recruitment and workforce planning, including sourcing, job postings, interviews, offers, onboarding, and succession and staffing needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain consistent HR policies, procedures, programs, records, and documentation across both businesses.
  • Support compensation, benefits, pension, vacation, employee development, organizational structure, and job-description initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate HR system and employee information and work closely with Finance on payroll-related data and processes.
  • Co-lead the health and safety program with Operations, including WSIB and claims management, return-to-work programs, incident investigations, JHSC coordination, required training, policies, records, and compliance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario employment, human rights, accessibility, occupational health and safety, and other applicable workplace legislation.
  • Monitor workforce information and HR trends and provide practical recommendations to leadership.
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Approximately 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, including experience independently leading a broad HR function; exceptional candidates with somewhat less experience may be considered.
  • Experience supporting an hourly workforce and handling complex employee relations, health and safety, and difficult-to-fill recruitment. Manufacturing, skilled-trades, or industrial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment and workplace legislation and practical HR practices.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or significantly improving an HRIS or payroll system is strongly preferred.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, organization, follow-through, and the ability to balance employee support with business needs and consistent accountability.
  • A practical, approachable style and willingness to be visible and accessible across both facilities.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position with an HR office available at each location. The HR Manager will divide time between both facilities according to business needs. The organization operates regular, afternoon, and weekend shifts, with most employee support handled during regular working hours due to shift overlap.
Armo has a very competitive compensation package and other perks including:
  • Discretionary annual bonus.
  • Flexible start and finish times within the requirements of this fully on-site role.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) benefits.
  • Registered pension plan with employer contributions.
  • Education and training support, safety footwear allowance, and prescription safety-glasses allowance.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
