Controls Designer/ Programmer

 

Position Summary

 

This position is for an experienced intermediate or senior level controls technologist who provides customized PLC controls solutions in support of Municipal Water and Waste Water Projects.

 

Accountabilities

  • Candidate will be involved in all stages of Municipal Customer Projects – inception, requirements, design, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, improvement and support of software
  • Write Controls Philosophies and test protocols
  • Execution and verification of PLC and HMI solutions
  • Act as a technical resource to sales, project teams and service
  • Contribute to continuous improvement
  • Meet timelines for multiple projects and assigned tasks
  • Team player able to work with a global team
  • Occasional international travel for site commissioning will be required

 

Measures of Performance

  • Reduce Controls Call Tickets through improvements in Controls Processes by 10%
  • Reduce PE Related NCS (2020 JOP – 47 NCS)
  • Achieve OTD targets for Project Engineering team - Target 90% OTD of CPs and Controls Program completion (2019 JOP <90%)
  • Achieve 90% OTD for Systems by April 1 and maintain FY average above 90% for remainder of year

 

Qualifications

  • Creativity, problem solving and attention to detail
  • Experience in PLC and HMI programming – prefer minimum 5 years’ experience developing complex customer or product logic solutions
  • Rockwell RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk required
  • Siemens TIA Portal and/or Step 7 and WinCC Flexible experience preferred
  • Schneider/GE or other PLC additional experience an asset
  • Experience with industrial network protocols and embedded systems an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly
  • Interested in working as part of a team to develop innovative new controls solutions
