Job Description
Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant will be joining a team of highly skilled, collaborative, and enthusiastic Finance professionals. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, problem solving skills, flexibility and the ability to multi-task efficiently. You should also be trustworthy and an excellent communicator.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the financial records for a consolidated group of four companies; two Canadians, one US and one Australian.
The Senior Accountant will:
- calculate and record monthly entries for prepaids, accruals, intercompany charges, etc.;
- ensure timely compliance and remittance for all statutory requirements, such as payroll taxes, sales taxes, etc.;
- review general ledger amounts for completeness and accuracy;
- identify implications and make recommendations;
- reconcile and analyze accounts in order to provide useful information to company leaders; and
- assist with special projects as required.
Requirements:
- College Diploma with a focus in accounting
- Minimum 3 to 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in an entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements
- Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to solve problems by applying learning from previous situations to a new situation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Working knowledge of Sage 300 considered an asset
