Junior Controls Specialist


About the Junior Controls Specialist role:
This role is an entry-level position building foundational knowledge on Trojan Technologies systems for the identification, diagnosis, and resolution of controls issues for external customers, field service personnel, and the service provider network. In addition, 40% of the role will focus effort on the Trojan IOT/STREAM implementation, which is our remote connection device. Mentorship and guidance will be provided, fostering an environment of growth and development.
  • Perform basic controls activities including loading HMI and PLC programs, basic configuration of a project (setting IP's, configuring I/O, modifying SCADA lists), development of test stands, creation of standard work for routine inquiries
  • Ability to configure IOT devices, test, and coordinate onsite installation
  • Manage the overall project on behalf of service, including defining and improving the process
  • Utilize problem-solving skillset in the identification and diagnosis of complex, often vaguely defined operational issues
  • Interpret and explain technical information to customers at all levels (Operator to Owner)
  • Act as a technical resource to sales, project teams, and service

Are you qualified?
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related Controls, Electronics, Instrumentation, or IT role
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Experience working in a technical service and/or customer service environment, preferably in the water/wastewater industry
  • Experience in PLC and HMI program strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
