StarTech.com is currently looking for a Product Compliance Associate to join our Product Compliance team at our Corporate Office in London, Ontario.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Product Compliance, the Product Compliance Associate plays a key role in providing general regulatory compliance support and accurate documentation within the business. In addition, this role involves reviewing & answering compliance inquiries from customers and suppliers, monitoring & processing compliance registrations, and providing compliance documentation upon request.

This role is integral to fulfilling the legal obligations of the business and ensuring complete customer support & satisfaction, and is ideal for someone with an interest in technology, global product compliance with a passion for research and attention to detail.

In this role you will:

  • Work closely with both internal and external customers, suppliers, vendors and global regulatory agencies
  • Partner with the Customer Advisory team to ensure that customer inquiries for compliance information and certification are provided in a timely manner, with vendor follow up as required
  • Provide accurate compliance resource data for each product line and technology to our Product Development team to support new product introductions (NPI)
  • Work closely with Product Management to understand and follow product / market release schedules to ensure appropriate documentation is complete and available in the Compliance Database
  • Communicate frequently with our vendors and suppliers to obtain up-to-date compliance documentation, and provide notification of any changes and / or requirements, and to submit inquiries and technical data to various global regulatory bodies
  • Notify our in house Legal Counsel of any upcoming (legal) changes, requirements and relevant information
  • Support the Supply Chain team by responding to vendor and supplier inquiries and compliance requirements
  • Ensure that the Compliance Database is accurate and comprehensive by creating and updating entries, auditing and notifying internal teams of changes
  • Ensure that StarTech.com product registrations (environmental, safety, EMC, etc) are accurate and current with the applicable governing bodies
  • Regulatory Compliance Audits: review, update, and report on internal compliance data accuracy and completeness  
  • Assist compliance leadership in researching compliance requirements for new technologies and emerging markets

What you can show us:

  • Post-Secondary Education in a Technical, Data Analysis/Management, Business Administration related field
  • A minimum of 2 years in a technical administrative position (such as Technical Support, Technical Writing, Product Development), preferably in Consumer Electronics
  • Demonstrated ability to commit to extensive periods of concentration (ex. Reading technical and/or legal documentation) and capability of compiling and disseminating complex information clearly and accurately
  • A familiarity with Regulatory Compliance (Product Safety, Import/Export Regulations, Environmental Restrictions, Government Legislation, etc.) would be a strong plus
  • Demonstrated superior interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivation and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Spanish is a bonus
