Job Description

SUMMARY

Manage / lead / oversee a team of Business Systems Analysts/Specialists in providing a broad range of business services and technical solutions, by ensuring established standards are met and planned objectives are achieved. Role works in close partnership with business stakeholders and technology teams on a broad range of initiatives varying in risk, size and complexity. In addition, role will have a large focus on championing and implementing repeatable process improvement methodologies to optimize delivery, streamline workflows, and support operational excellence.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
CUSTOMER

  • Manage / lead a team of Business Systems Analysts / Specialists and oversee related systems analysis activities and deliverables
  • Manage resources and assignment, ensuring project milestones are met and monitoring to keep projects on schedule
  • Provide advice and guidance to appropriate stakeholders on a range of issues within the scope of own area
  • Identify and develop / leverage key business performance measures or metrics for own area and ensure benchmark / best practice information is shared with appropriate parties
  • Oversee and manage escalated issues to ensure resolution or redirect as appropriate ensure
  • When required, directly intervene and support the BSA's on initiatives that are "at risk" or require additional management attention
  • Ensure deliverables are agreed to by stakeholders and managed / implemented effectively by the team
  • Oversee the creation, delivery and maintenance of required documentation and deliverables
  • Ensure process, methodologies and tools are applied appropriately
  • Understand and communicate impact of scope changes to the project management team both from a timeline/cost and a risk perspective
  • Review and provide input to project documentation as required and monitor and continue to assess and mitigate risks and monitor and track progress
  • Prioritize work based on goals and risks of projects and ensure milestones, activities and tasks are completed as scheduled
  • Contribute to project readiness assessments and participate and contribute to lessons learned
  • Provide insight, information and recommendations on industry trends and significant issues
  • Promote and develop awareness of business analysis and requirements methodologies and standards
  • Act as a consultant / resource to other areas of Enterprise Technology and the Business
  • Leads diagnostic assessments and redesign efforts using industry methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc) to optimize system, process, and workflow performance

SHAREHOLDER

  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to support the development sound business cases with an on-going focus on reusability, scalability, innovation and enterprise-wide solutions
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses, technology groups, and key stakeholders to identify and assess new project in-take requests.
  • Maintain an "end to end" view of the customer, business and processes to be able to triage new requests based on changing partner needs.
  • Manage / oversee the in-take of new projects and ensure Business Systems Analyst resources are effectively allocated amongst the project portfolio
  • Communicate and negotiate timelines, budget, staffing, scope and critical milestones with project managers and key stakeholders
  • Identify and understand emerging risks related to project activity and ensure business requirements and solutions appropriately mitigate risks
  • Track individual progress of each active project and assist in the preparation of monthly project reporting and partner/executive dashboard reporting
  • Ensure the team maintains compliance and procedure guidelines to support satisfactory audit results
  • Manage relationships with project team members, third party vendors/ service partners, other technology and client areas as appropriate

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team
  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program, project managers
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Manages sizeable team of Business Systems Analysts that are assigned to projects ranging in size (e.g. Tier 1 – tier 4)
  • Deep expertise and knowledge of Bank, technology / business standards, process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc) and leading large and varied teams of professionals
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of businesses and/or organizational practices/ disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own function / business
  • Sets operational team direction and works autonomously in the management of the unit and collaborates with others to establish and execute on common goals
  • Generally reports to an executive role with broader mandate

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years relevant experience
