CARFAX is looking for a candidate with a focus on network engineering to support a highly secure, complex IT company in a business-critical environment. This position will join a team that is responsiblefor innovation, maintaining and supporting a wide breadth of IT solutions for the enterprise, ranging from network administration of Cloud Networks, multiple Data Centers, supporting high volume, customer facing web sites to infrastructure network support including multiple WAN connectivity points.
As an Associate Network Engineer you will:
- Ensure the stable and reliable connectivity of all Cloud, LAN, and WAN network
- Work with other Network Staff in all levels and roles.
- Rapidly troubleshoot network outages when they happen, but focus on preventing them.
- Provide accurate and creative solutions for various supporting departments and teams.
- Maintain up-to-date detailed documentation and publishing; where applicable
- Be available for 24/7 “on-call” issues and “off-hour” maintenance or installations.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- 2+ years experience installing, maintaining, securing, and monitoring computer networks – or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot network outages, open support tickets with vendors, and see problems through to resolution.
- CCNA or equivalent understanding and education.
- Strong understanding of OSI model.
- Understanding of routing and switching and associated protocols.
- Understanding basic concepts of controller-based wireless enterprise networking.
- Understanding basic concepts of VPN functionality.
- Basic understanding of common protocols such as HTTP/S, DNS, SSH, etc.
- Interested and willing to work with both cloud and traditional networking.
- Clear communication skills.
- Understanding basic concepts of AWS Cloud Networking.
- Experience with any of Cisco, F5, NGINX, AWS, Palo Alto, Silver Peak, InfoBlox.
- Understanding basic concepts of AWS Cloud Networking.
- Experience with any of Cisco, F5, NGINX, AWS, Palo Alto, Silver Peak, InfoBlox.
- Current certifications a plus.
- Experience with scripting or automation.
Must be able to lift (up to 75 lbs.) and move equipment in and out of a computer room racks, as well as maneuver under counters and through ladder racks to run cables.
Note: The summer 4-day work week is a test program in 2021 and not guaranteed in future years.
