This job may require travel to London or Toronto, or in other locations across Ontario for in office days, training, or events.  In office days are typically held monthly.  Travel reimbursement will be provided in accordance with WSIB policies. 

 

Salary Grade:  N06        From:  $77,627.00  To:  $97,034.00

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), this role supports the development, design, coordination and implementation of the WSIB's EDI strategy in support of the goals and objectives to build and maintain a diverse and inclusive workforce. 

This role will provide strategic guidance, facilitate best practices based upon sound research, and will empower our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to enhance employee engagement, and support professional development for all employees. Support will be offered along with best practices and resources for ERG leaders to foster effective group dynamics over the long term. This role involves working closely with our EDI Program Consultants and fostering an inclusive workplace culture, facilitating engagement among employees, and ensuring that ERGs align with our EDI strategy, People Plan and Corporate Strategic plan priorities.

Provide research and data to help develop new or enhance existing HR EDI programs and service offerings. Provide guidance to WSIB management and staff on various HR programs, policies and practices as they relate to EDI. 

Support the implementation of current and future internal and external EDI HR strategies. This role is involved in various HR programs, initiatives, processes and communications; working with subject matter experts across the HR division to ensure the delivery of HR activities, continuous improvement and new processes. 

Major Responsibilities:

1. Keep up to date with EDI related trends and new/updated legislation/policies and inform changes to  HR programs, policies, processes and initiatives by:

  • Monitoring and assessing the potential impacts of proposed changes in legislation, policy, process, or adoption of new trends on branch plans, initiatives, budget and resourcing.
  • Using industry best practice research, approaches and technology solutions to provide advice on how to create efficiencies as it relates to various HR programs, policies, processes and initiatives.
  • Performing organizational and trend analysis to identify, document and inform management on potential cost and/or staff impact of business planning projects and initiatives.
  • Leading business process work and transformational change within HR including documenting and reviewing current processes, establishing new processes and continuous improvement of existing processes within branches including making recommendations to Directors on process changes to improve overall client delivery.
  • Developing HR change management strategies, options and recommendations and rollout change initiatives to impacted stakeholders.

2. Support the HR EDI branch planning process by conducting research, gathering information, conducting data analysis and making recommendations that will inform planning decisions regarding initiatives, current programs, timelines, and resourcing. This includes:

  • Monitoring on-going and planned business initiatives to ensure that they are in line with WSIB strategic goals, business needs and HR’s divisional plan, identify any gaps in progress, provide recommendations and implement solutions to close the gaps.
  • Assessing current and future new/updated initiatives and programs, identify potential changes that may impact processes, technology and potential FTE changes
  • Researching, designing and delivering HR programs within the branch.
  • Analyzing HR data in order to advise on any gaps identified in HR programs, processes or initiatives and make recommendations to mitigate those gaps
  • Reviewing established branch metrics for future program creation, changes, improvements, etc.

3. Coordinate business project delivery by:

  • Defining project/initiative scope, goals and deliverables that support branch and HR goals.
  • Tracking and monitoring project milestones to ensure deliverables are completed on time, on budget and that they also adhere to high quality standards.
  • Identifying project bottlenecks and providing recommendations on appropriate solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and gaps and developing solutions to address identified issues.
  • Identifying and advising on risks and mitigation plans for successful project delivery.
  • Ensuring projects are effectively planned, managed and executed to ensure the smooth transition of new processes and/or systems

4. Participate in the procurement and vendor management process for assigned vendors.

  • Collaborate with external vendors on WSIB projects and programs.
  • Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure a positive relationship and mutual understanding of deliverables.

5. Lead the development and distribution of consistent branch and enterprise communications which includes memos, presentations, reports and may facilitate workshops (as required) that support branch activities and initiatives.

  • Work with Communications branch to ensure HR related content as it relates to EDI on the WSIB intranet is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop and deliver presentations across the HR Division as well as to the organization to key
  • stakeholders including HR senior management team (HRSMC).

Job Requirements:

Education requirements:

  • Bachelors degree specializing in the Human Resources/Business Management/Business Administration field 
  • CHRP designation or working towards designation an asset

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience within a diversity and inclusion role, demonstrated specialized knowledge of employment equity, diversity and inclusion principles and best practices, strategy development, proven communication and presentation skills with employees and senior leaders. 
  • Ability to apply policies related to key human resources legislation and disciplines 
  • Proficient in using digital communication and project management tools.
  • Experience in event organization, logistics, and management
  • Must be able to effectively communicate the vision and create buy-in for HR programs and initiatives based on a thorough understanding of benefit, risk, cost, and precedent.
