Role description 

The Technical Lead is responsible for leading the development of software product and integrated solutions that meet customer expectations. You will oversee and make decisions on the overall design and development of the platform as well as the end-to-end lifecycle, aligning to best practices in collaboration with product and architecture. You will maintain a high degree of technical and business acumen related to your product to effectively contribute to the architecture and overall lifecycle of the solution.  

 

The expected salary range for this position is: $65,000 - $114,500

 

What you will do 

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to other team members and vendor partners
  • Collaborate closely with business and vendor partners to deliver solutions 
  • Provide direct people leadership to a cross-functional team tasked with a mandate to develop, modify, configure and integrate solutions to meet business requirements and engineering specifications 
  • Collaborate with the business PO to plan product work, prioritizing tech debt and other technical vitalization items 
  • Maintain and enforce technology best practices, policies and procedures regarding coding standards, versioning, quality,?and?configuration 
  • Drive product improvements that will accelerate delivery, increase quality, and reduce maintenance 
  • Build strong and trusted relationships with internal and external vendor partners 
  • Hold yourself and your team accountable to contribute to the overall digital modernization of the organization 

 

What you will bring 

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in business or computer science or an equivalent combination of training and experience 
  • Hands on Mainframe Software Development experience 
      • Solid understanding of the Mainframe Development environment and tools: 
        • DB2, IMS DB, IMS/TM or CICS, PLI, COBOL, JCL 
        • Changeman, Compuware tools, CA tools, File-Aid tools 
      • Strong debugging and investigation skills 
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience delivering software, integration or platform engineering solutions following a SDLC 
  • Proven ability in partnering and guiding the work of external vendors 
  • Be a technical thought leader, overseeing development and quality standards, including code reviews, code management, documentation, testing and product/platform-based monitoring and alerting 
  • Experience coaching and mentoring software developers on requirements analysis, design patterns and development best practices 
  • Agile delivery experience 
  • Strong understanding of industry best practices  
  • Able to pivot and quickly change direction in response to changing priorities 
  • Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, complex concepts to a non-technical audience
