Salary Grade: 212 From: $86,051.06 To: $103,855.00
Perform the day to day activities around release and deployments for all Applications, integration flows, batch jobs, middleware systems and databases in a multi-platform environment. Troubleshoot Release and deployments incidents to ensure continuous service is delivered to the end users.
1. Perform daily administration, coordinate and deployment with a varied level of technical expertise and leadership for all WSIB applications in the Test Regions. Understands the business well enough to work with end users and ensure release and deployments are aligned with projects timelines. Have the ability to investigate, troubleshoot and isolate the problem and propose a solution in a timely manner. This includes but not limited to:
- Lead and Participate in deployment investigations; take proactive steps to resolve a problem and/or restore the environment.
- Articulate the root cause of a QA deployment problems, and assess impact to release schedule
- Have moderate knowledge of Release Management functionality, understanding architectural overview of entire WSIB systems
- Participate ,when necessary in verifying design and code reviews were performed in adherence to development standards
- Update RLM tools with correct Deployment activities and artifacts and create / maintain the approved work flow
- Have high level knowledge of Deployment and Environment Management functionality, providing architectural overview of entire WSIB systems
- Propose, drive and participate in Release Management process improvements to ensure stability, reliability and efficiency of systems
- Maintain supporting documentation ensuring it is kept current for all aspects of Release and Deployment Management
- Perform process and software changes that impact both Production and Project Support, regularly communicating status and information
- Provide Technical support to Change Management and both Production and Project Management
- Suggest and develop fixes to complex deployment and release issues
- Adhere to the defined SDLC process between Project and Production releases
- Participate in defects meetings, RM Daily Standups and RM planning sessions.
2. Interact with IT Business Partners, internal and external vendors and ITC technical teams to:
- Perform and communicate Release and Deployment Management tasks and guidelines that meet ITIL and WSIB standards
- Provide technical feedback to architects, high-level solution designers and business analysts on the current state of Release Management and SDE tools/ process
- Ensure that WSIB external parties’ confidential data/information is handled and transferred in accordance with WSIB security requirements; escalate potential security breaches and support other initiatives proposed by WSIB Security
- Work with Software vendors to ensure changes are developed and delivered to WSIB that meet WSIB development Standards.
3. Collaborate with Project and Production Users:
- Define and propose enhancements in Release and Deployment management based on a need to continue to improve the development testing and business demands.
- Create Service and Change requests, follow up and drive requested activities to completion
- Create and update Deployment Request for all Test Regions
- Validate and preserver Release Notes for all Deployments
- Perform / Coordinate deployment of applications, configuration and integration jobs in various environments. Drive all subordinate activities by scheduling requests to other internal and external teams
- Continuous collaboration with various WSIB team and Vendors with respect to Environment, Data and QA (triage environment issue, Release Calendars, Scheduling, Continuous enhancements and current status)
- Provide timely reporting on work progress status to the project manager, team lead and/or manager
- Provide Technical standards with regards to Automation tools used at WSIB for Release and deployment management.
4. Follow appropriate methodologies and standards and actively participate in required meetings (Branch/Team meetings, Kanban standup or daily scrum).
5. Provide as needed on-call support for release and deployment management to achieve excellence.
6. Provide status reports on regular basis.
7. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Education:
- University completion at undergraduate level with a specialty focus in Information Management or Computer Science or Business Administration.
Experience:
- Six years prior experience in software development life cycle.
