AVP, Accounting & Controls
 

We are looking for an Assistant Vice-President, Accounting and Controls.

 

Reporting to the Canadian Controller, the AVP, Accounting and Control is accountable for leadership of complex accounting analysis and recommendations, process improvement and efficiency across the wider Canada Controller Group team and oversight of the Canada framework for internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR).

This is a complex role that requires an individual who can lead through influence working with different stakeholders across the Canadian business and has demonstrated ability to engage teams in delivering change. 

 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Accounting partner for the Canada segment and lines on complex accounting issues, develop recommendations for complex transactions and own complex accounting models
  • Implement process improvement and automation tools to simplify and streamline processes and manage risk
  • Partner on large strategic priorities to deliver on improvements to finance and accounting systems
  • Lead and enhance the ICOFR program for Canada including scoping, risk assessment, key control framework and oversight of remediation plans

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • CPA designation with a strong technical knowledge of IFRS
  • 10+ years of relevant finance experience
  • Comfortable working across subject matter, be able to balance multiple files at a point in time
  • Strong in synthesizing information, presenting complex facts and outcomes to senior leaders.
  • Highly motivated and proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication and strong relationship building skills working with teams across the organization
  • Experienced leader focused on coaching, mentoring and building a high-performance culture
  • Committed to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities and executing plans of action to create efficiencies and drive improvements

 

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Toronto or Winnipeg.

The base salary for this position is between  $123,300 - $226,200 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
