Your Role on the Team

At Arcane a Lead Developer with a Back-End designation is responsible for implementation planning, production tasks breakdown and delivery on time of the functional parts of web projects. The Lead Developer is a central figure in the development production process, liaising with the Product Manager(s), internal specialist contributors and client stakeholders to advise and present achievable, industry-leading solutions to compliment the visual elements of design.

As a lead on the technical aspects of projects, you will be accountable for the success of back-end solutions and oversee project launches and major releases. While contributing to production efforts, you will be expected to delegate tasks and develop efficient quality assurance processes to help the team scale.

With broad knowledge & understanding of solutions, the Lead Developer will be a key contributor to the client services arm of the development team, working closely with Support Coordinators, Account Managers and the Director of Web Development to assess full service opportunities for maintenance and technology advances for the benefit of our clients on hosting & support contracts.

Qualifications and Skills 

• 5+ years of demonstrated career experience in independent roles helping agency or corporate teams succeed
• College diploma or a university degree in computer science, web development, marketing, economics or marketing or relevant career experience
• Capable of managing tight schedules/deadlines to ensure solutions are delivery on-time and budget
• Experience creating project estimates, requirements documentation and task breakdowns to assist with project coordination see-through to progress
• Comfortable in formal & informal meeting environments, leading and adding to conversations to convey technical information and advice in language suitable for clients/others to understand clearly
• Ability to create onboarding & coaching presentations, convey technical training materials in one-on-one settings, rollout new initiatives & provide mentorship to developers seeking learning opportunities
• Experience performing in a team setting, with confidence to identify suitable assignees to support
• Advanced WordPress platform knowledge, with excellent debugging skills
• Has proven methods and track record for selection of integrations, plugins and extensions to best support client requirements, while supporting the interests of the helpdesk & ongoing development teams
• Advanced Server Administration skills for LAMP stack development (specifically Linux/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL & PHP)
• Strong communicator in internal and external situations, capable of clearly articulating through situation, task, action and result in non-technical terms
• Positive attitude, with genuine interest in personal growth and the development of others
