We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Analyst.
The Group Life and Health Portfolio Senior Business Systems Analyst is a key role between various departments within the Workplace Solutions business unit, in support of delivering and sustaining capabilities for the Group Life and Health portfolio. The role will also work closely with vendors as well as business partners in the Sponsor Services and Finance business areas.
The Senior Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for leading the analysis of business problems and developing requirements, product specifications, contribute to solutioning discussions and translate business needs and features into developer-consumable functional and non-functional requirements as an input to design, development and testing exercises associated with application development, support, or configuration.
The successful candidate will develop a strong and deep understanding of Workplace Solutions needs and how systems support the core business unit mission.
Accountabilities

Leads and orchestrates the overall analysis, scoping, estimating and planning for large or complex initiatives

Leads the elicitation and validation of business requirements impacting multiple products using various methods, techniques and tools

Leads and facilitates meetings, walkthroughs, workshops, and reviews of deliverables
-
Leads the troubleshooting & resolution of complex problems to determine root cause and possible solutions, requiring the identification and analysis of alternative courses of action, involving the development of new approaches, tactics and initiatives

Leads the communication of technical complexities to senior business stakeholders

Partners with the QA team to ensure test strategies, plans and processes align with the business requirements and enables efficiencies in the work or testing process. Develops/supports implementation and testing strategies and plans, understanding of compliance controls and standards

Provides direction and leadership to the team and is recognized as a technical analysis leader throughout the department. Mentors, trains and coaches various resources (eg: cross-discipline practitioners, business/3rd party representatives) on analysis strategies, methods, processes, tools, approaches and methodologies

Shares knowledge and experience with members of the team to identify and share opportunities to improve the work, identify better ways of doing things and carry those ideas to the rest of the team

Works closely with cross-departmental staff to understand how systems are used to support business functions and to analyze how existing systems may be improved to better support their business functions.

Collaborates with senior stakeholders and conveys complicated issues to diverse audiences. Works with vendors and cross-business unit staff to deliver new systems and technology solutions.

Writes detailed functional and non-functional specifications or user stories for developing or modifying various systems.

Enforce application delivery methodologies, specifications and standards associated with CEO/CFO delivery controls.

Provide technical documentation and analysis, help administer or contribute to training for users, and support end users during the transition to maintenance period.

Create use cases for testing, as part of the System Requirements documentation process and work with quality assurance resources to ensure understanding of the requirements and traceability of test strategies, plans and test cases back to business requirements.
Qualifications and Competencies:
-
University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
-
8-10 years of relevant experience as a Business Systems Analyst or the equivalent in experience plus education.
-
Experience working as part of DevOps team, in an Agile environment and with third party developers, vendors, and consultants.
-
Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and organizational skills; attention to detail; and ability to coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Experience with evaluation of emerging methods to meet team needs. Proficient with data modelling techniques and tools, data mapping from source systems
-
Experience with requirements gathering and documentation of functional and non-functional specifications.

Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build strong relationships with internal clients, and a successful track record of collaboration toward achieving objectives expected.

Strong technical skills in Microsoft office (excel, access, word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
-
Should be comfortable working on both mainframe and client-server platforms.

Excellent communication skills both orally and written as communication is internally and externally with clients

Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
-
Experience with development or translation of customer personas, journey maps and wireframe into functional and non-functional specifications

Knowledge of the insurance industry, Billing, Finance, Enrolment, Policy Admin, etc. would be considered a strong asset
-
CBAP, Scrum Master or other related industry certifications are considered an asset

The base salary for this position is between $70,500.00- $129,200.00 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
