Position Overview

Ontario Plants is seeking an experienced and hands-on IT Infrastructure & Service Management Specialist to support our growing organization. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving our internal IT environment, coordinating with external vendors for infrastructure services, and providing day-to-day technical support across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical troubleshooting skills, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to manage vendor relationships effectively. This is a key role in supporting both the reliability of our IT systems and the productivity of our staff.

Job Description/Responsibilities

 Infrastructure Oversight (in coordination with external providers):
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external IT vendors managing servers, backups, and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Coordinate infrastructure maintenance, updates, and issue resolution with third-party providers.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and vendor SLAs to ensure seamless operations.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning and technology assessments.
Network & Connectivity Management:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the company’s on-site network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, switches, access points, VPN).
  • Ensure secure, reliable connectivity for users across all departments.
  • Act as the primary responder for IT support requests through the help desk ticketing system.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for hardware, software, printing, and connectivity issues.
  • Document support actions and resolutions while maintaining internal knowledge base resources.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple support requests to minimize downtime and maintain user productivity.
Security & Compliance:
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining IT security policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on potential vulnerabilities or risks in collaboration with vendors.
  • Support compliance initiatives and participate in audits as needed.
Strategic IT Initiatives:
  • Support IT-related projects, including cloud adoption, mobility solutions, and digital transition initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT systems and services that align with business needs.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand technology requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to address connectivity issues and optimize performance.
Minimum Requirements
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, infrastructure coordination, or network administration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience managing relationships with third-party IT service providers.
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience supporting systems in an agricultural or production environment is a plus.
Wage
 
  • Commensurate with experience, starting at $75,000 annually.
