Principal Research Director - Enterprise Research Team

 

Organizations across North America and the rest of the world often need external expertise to assist them with digital transformation, IT modernization, mergers and acquisitions or other strategic initiatives. Some of Info-Tech’s members are strategic accounts which will require additional custom services that go above and beyond analyst advisory, workshops and technical counselling. This position will provide world class advice and tailored practical guidance to these members that are in need and prepare cutting edge research to deliver these services.

The Principal Research Director, creates and delivers client-driven, project-based, practical research and advisory that helps IT leaders drive measurable results in their organizations.

In this role, the Principal Research Director will maintain an active pulse on the needs of members as well as industry development, deliver exceptional service via calls and workshops, collaborate with others across the Research department and organization, and ensure they deliver high quality experiences.

What you will do, includes, but not limited to:

Advisory Calls with Clients

  • Listening to the information provided by Members and recommending ways they can use the research to work through their strategic challenges
  • Assist to scope member concerns and direct them to relevant research as well as identify gaps in research products.
  • Teach senior technical leaders how to create appropriate high quality, board room ready deliverables with hands-on working sessions.
  • Create custom methodologies to assist enterprise members through their challenges which can later be harvested by Technical Counselors or other Principal Research Directors.

Facilitate Workshops

  • Using Info-Tech’s published research to facilitate a series of activities with Members and their teams.
  • Throughout the workshop, collecting activity outputs from participants and compiling them into a polished final deliverable for the Member at the end of the engagement.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration & Support

  • Provide subject matter expertise to Sales, Workshop Delivery, Executive Services, Consulting, Public Relations & Marketing teams as needed.
  • Design and build of high-quality keynote/other presentations, and successful delivery of presentations as needed.

To be successful, you will need:

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree required (business or technology preferred). An Engineering, MA, MBA, or MSc beneficial.
  • Professional certifications in Enterprise Architecture, Business Process Improvement, Business Model Transformation or Domain Transformation are considered valuable (SAFe, Disciplined Agile, Six Sigma, TOGAF, ArchiMate, Business Architecture Guild, BizBok, Agile, Lean, ITIL, IT4IT, Cobit etc).
  • Practical experience (15+ years) working in a variety of the following domains:
    • Business Architecture
    • Business Process Management
    • Digital Transformation
    • Data & Analytics
    • Data Operations
    • Integration
    • Application/Solutions
    • Security
    • Application Operations
    • Governance, Risk and Compliance Management
  • Presentation and facilitation experience demonstrated through prior client-facing workshops, training sessions, and consulting engagements.
  • History of strong relationship building and management skills. Experience gaining and maintaining trusted advisor status with senior management and C-level executives.
