Job purpose

 

As a member of the creative team, the Copywriter will play a leading role in the development of creative concepts. The Copywriter will assist the creative team in producing transformational creative work, ensuring that there is a clear message that is representative of each brand. . 

 

A Copywriter is responsible for taking a client's brief and executing creative copy concepts that engage the intended audience and align with creative vision, brand, and strategy to achieve performance and results. The execution of these concepts could include: brand messaging, brand TOV, campaign ideation and copy, omnichannel messaging, web content, brand personas, copy direction and oversight, taglines, and much more. Time management is critical to this role as multiple projects will run in parallel at any given time. The adoption and evolution of the creative process is yours to manage as you define the vision and direction of this function within the organization

 

Accuracy is essential. A Copywriter and Creative Director are accountable for ensuring that all content and copy align with the brief, creative direction and strategy of the project or deliverable. The proofreading of written materials falls under the Copywriter’s purview and a high standard of quality should be upheld when it comes to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

 

Creative 

  • Assist in the concept development for brand campaigns 
  • Assist in brand modeling 
  • Development of key messaging and USPs
  • Documentation of writing style for brand standards and guidelines
  • Consultation for ongoing marketing efforts specifically 

 

Digital Marketing

  • Developing campaign messaging, supporting teams across paid social, search copy, display ad concept creation, and more
  • Supporting on the development of web copy, ensuring the brand TOV and vision is carried throughout (also supporting on SEO best practices within on-page content)
  • Providing strategic vision on the messaging and copy for digital advertising campaigns

 

Leadership

  • Identifying recruitment needs on the team and assisting in the full recruitment process up to and including the employee onboarding process
  • Facilitate the selection of interns, including reviewing applications, conducting interviews, selecting successful candidates and completing intern reviews
  • Continuous knowledge sharing of industry updates, trends and best practices

 

Business Management

  • Act as a Creative team point of contact for the organization to provide information
  • Collaborate in the Ideation of creative concepts, providing copy direction and support to the team
  • Assist in review and approval of completed work
  • Assist in quoting client projects, including specifications and costs as it pertains to your discipline
  • Work with cross-functional teams to educate and familiarize with creative concepts and timeframes
  • Actively support new business opportunities with documents and copy support
  • Actively support the submission process for awards and industry recognition
  • Assist in managing projects, bringing a creative presence and awareness of the project expectations
  • Provide Account Managers with strategy and rationale to support provided creative work. 

 

Client Meetings

  • Presenting and supporting creative work prepared both from a theoretical and business perspective 
  • Support in ideation process once business is won

 

Qualifications / Skills 

  • 2-3 years of creative industry experience, agency environment is preferred
  • This role requires the ability to delegate and encourage collaboration with others to find solutions 
  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn new digital and creative trends & to educate others
  • Organizational, time management and leadership skills are essential to this role
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly to colleagues and clients
  • Effectiveness at cross-team collaboration - including working with development and creative teams
  • A combination of creativity, technology, passion and skill, with absolute drive to deliver solutions and execute projects to plan and on time
  • The ability to produce unique creative copy concepts while taking into consideration budget and timelines.
  • Experience writing  for digital marketing, social media, websites, and traditional channels with consideration of user experience and target audiences
