Job Description
The Contract LAN Administrator is responsible for planning, problem solving and maintenance of hardware, software, business solutions and subscription services for London Hydro end users, in addition to day-to-day support of IT devices for end users (remote, telephone-based and face-to-face), and for ensuring that all end user access and authentication is appropriately and securely configured in Active Directory, Google Cloud and other related solutions.

JOB DUTIES
As part of your responsibilities as a Contract LAN Administrator, you will:
- Setup, deploy, install, maintain, upgrade, and dispose of desktop/end user hardware and software assets (e.g. PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, copiers, and other peripherals). Assist with ongoing maintenance, procurement, asset refresh planning, budgeting and future planning for the company’s desktop environment and relevant peripherals. Monitor the performance and lifecycle of the company’s desktop infrastructure and make suggestions for improving efficiency. Maintain equipment inventories for asset management purposes. Collaborate with existing vendors to evaluate the new technology that is available and make recommendations on using that technology. Develop and maintain processes to optimize hardware and software deployments.
- Perform the duties of the Service Desk Agent. Serve as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance for desktop, connectivity, software, peripherals and mobile devices. Ensure help desk tickets are accurately logged and maintained. Resolve problems and answer end user questions. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely and via telephone. Handle maintenance and operation of hardware and software, troubleshoot malfunctions and contact vendors for repairs as needed. Identify/analyze common IT issues and take steps to reduce or eliminate them. Document resolution taken, and collaborate with / seek assistance from other IT personnel and supervisors in order to develop relevant solutions. Maintain and develop knowledge base documentation.
- Assist the Manager, IT Infrastructure in prioritizing and reassigning open support tickets, addressing escalated support tickets, and analyzing end-user support history (e.g. response time, first-call resolution). Prepare reports regarding end user hardware and software, and associated support processes, for various internal audiences. Act as the primary point of contact for end user business solutions, implementation, troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Responsible for configuring and managing end user accounts in Active Directory and Google Cloud in ensuring appropriate permission to, and security and protection of corporate data and records. Ensure that security software is updated and running properly. Assist with cyber security incident management.
QUALIFICATIONS
A graduate from Computer Systems Technician/Technology or similar program, you also bring the following credentials and skills to the position of Contract LAN Administrator:
- Knowledge and experience working in Microsoft Active Directory for user management
- Knowledge and experience working in Google Cloud Admin console
- Good understanding and experience in desktop computer hardware, software and operating systems, mobile devices and other information technology solutions associated with the position
- Familiarity with cyber security best practices in relation to end user support
- Excellent abilities in problem solving, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues pertaining to end-users and business needs
- Knowledge of Windows OS provisioning, system management tools, logical file systems, client/server environments, and service desk technologies
- The position necessitates a high degree of confidentiality; trusted with visibility/access to highly sensitive and confidential information
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
