StarTech.com is growing its Data Analytics & Market Research Department by adding a new Data Analyst – Inventory to the team at our London, ON office. If you are a strong analytical and critical thinker, possess advanced Excel and PowerBI skills and want to make an impact in a growing organization by leveraging data, we want to hear from you!

Reporting to the Director, Market Research & Analytics, the Data Analyst – Inventory will be a key contributor to the team in the areas of inventory analysis and reporting. This individual is responsible for using data to inform the development of the Inventory Strategy, communicating the strategy to the Operations Team, and reporting to measure the success of the strategies and identifying opportunities in the business. This is a comprehensive role where you can leverage your analytical and technical abilities, collaborate with team members across the business and practice communication skills.

What will you be doing?

  • Act as a key member within the Product Strategy Team to co-ordinate tactics that execute on the inventory strategy for specific product lines or markets.
  • Evaluate customer data to assess the risks and opportunities associated with inventory.
  • Use internal and external data sources to support the Product Strategy Team in improving decision making in the inventory strategy.
  • Be accountable in measuring the results and suggest alternative actions if the strategy is not working.
  • Analyze inventory data (using analytical techniques, modeling, and reporting), to support Category Managers by identifying opportunities and advising on the development of the inventory strategy.
  • Lead the communication of the strategy across functional teams and collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations and Sales on execution.
  • Identify the lost opportunities at a partner level and work closely with Digital Merchandisers to align on the strategy to optimize inventory at partner warehouses, as well as quantify the ROI.
  • Support the Sales and Bid Teams in navigating exceptional requests for high volume deals and executing on the strategy set out by both the Category Managers and Digital Merchandisers.

What can you bring to the table?

  • Post-secondary education - Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Supply Chain, Business, Statistics, or relevant cumulative experience.
  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Management Sciences or Data Analytics is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years working experience as a Data Analyst or Inventory Analyst.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning, compiling, and evaluating large datasets, data mining, and creating reports.
  • Robust analytical skills with the ability to organize, analyze and disseminate complex data.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with BI reporting packages such as Excel, Power Pivot and Power BI.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Adept at queries, reporting and presenting findings.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate analytics results in a clear and concise manner.
