This is a temporary opportunity up to 5 months in duration

Salary Grade:  207        From:  $63,146.61  To:  $74,290.33

Hours: Part-time, 14.5 hours per week

Job Summary :

Assist in the design and development of customized operational and management reports including Dashboards and Scorecards using various programming languages and BI Tools. Assist management with briefing and presentation materials on a regular or ad hoc basis. Provide technical support on CBIA produced BI/data products as well as assist in the extraction, transfer and load processes of data using multi-platform programs. Execute on data requests from internal and external clients, and assist other Analysts in the preparation and deliver of Branch information products and services. Conduct various business analytic functions including documenting business requirements, participating in various branch projects and initiatives including the co-ordination and tracking of project deliverables.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

1. Refresh and maintain ad hoc and regular reports and data extractions on claims and cost utilization, employer and worker profiling, in response to data requests from internal business areas and external clients. . This includes executing routine data requests by writing/editing programs/queries from multiple data sources, updating data sets, validating data, and assisting with data analysis.

2. Build queries and/or write programs to extract and compile data using software tools and programing languages such as: Power BI, DAX, M, SAS, R, SQL, Python and Cognos, to merge, analyze, and transform data from various sources in order to conduct business and statistical analysis.

3. Assist in the development and production of ad hoc and regular BI products on claims and cost utilization, employer and worker profiling, in response to requests from internal business areas. This includes consulting with business analysts to select the most appropriate data source, writing and/or documenting programs/queries from multiple data sources, and assisting in the building and enhancing reports; providing basic explanations of data findings, analysis and statistical methodologies and measurements.

4. Document data and report requirements including source-to-target mapping to ensure data integrity and quality. This includes consolidating and documenting meta data for business values; gathering and documenting business rules and definitions for data attributes in WSIB Enterprise data sources. Ensure data and information are valid and reasonable before releasing to the business.

5. In collaboration with analysts and the business, document business and technical requirements and participate in technical and business testing of data sources and BI and analytics products.

6. Ensure data quality and integrity of BI and analytics products by matching or comparing data to appropriate data sources, validating accuracy, identifying, analyzing and assisting in the investigation root causes to data issues or problems.

7. Assist in the maintenance and improvement of internal processes including the creation of process maps, user guides, as well as identify and implement solutions to increase automation and increase efficiencies.

8. Develop and maintain comprehensive end user documentation and reference materials/guides for BI and analytics products.

9. Assist the Business Analysts with the compiling of data, ensuring data validity and accuracy in order to understand the overall performance of the business to support decision-making.

10. Participate in key Branch projects, forums and working groups varying in scope and complexity including the writing of requirements, contributing to work plans and progress reports.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Job Requirements

Education

  • High school completion plus additional specialized courses or certificate program up to one year in business statistics, computer science, business/data analytics, data science, business decision support, big data.

Experience

  • Eight months prior experience in business analytics.
