Reporting to the Manager, OneChart Technical Applications, the Software Technical Specialist is responsible to develop, maintain and enhance corporate and clinical application systems architecture and environment. The individual will proactively monitor these applications to ensure the daily ongoing operational stability of the software functions and develop best practices for the use and enhancement of these applications. They will lead the process for assessing and recommending software patches, bundles and upgrades to maintain the integrity of the environment and ensure business continuity. Through new projects, the individual will develop and establish new modules, interfaces and data integration points with other key clinical and business applications.

This position will support Interfaces with Cerner Millennium.

Rate of Pay:                 $39.87 per hour - $49.84 per hour

Hours of Work:             37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a three (3) year diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of six (6) years recent, related experience with HL7 Clinical Interfaces
  • Previous recent and relevant Cerner experience is preferred
  • Recent work experience supporting complex hospital interfaces and how they enable staff and departments to be more efficient and effective
  • Recent work experience with IT software development life cycle management and working with cross-functional teams to support medium and large-scale implementations
  • Expert knowledge of systems analysis, application design and development, interpreting business user requirements and transforming them into technical specifications
  • Expertise in software development lifecycle, particularly as they relate to supporting large, complex applications
  • Thorough understanding of enterprise business applications &/or clinical applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and provide guidance to staff
  • Strong understanding of technology and how it can be applied in a business &/or clinical environment
  • Thorough understanding of applicable programming languages
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent information research skills
  • Database skills (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Demonstrated experience in being flexible, adaptable and open to change
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities & changing demands that require attention to detail
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chicken Pox). In addition, candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines).
