Role Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Career Development, this role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and managing strategic employment partnerships with organizations, employers, and alumni connections; allowing Huron’s Careers Office to meet its objectives. This role requires a dynamic and proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills, a keen understanding of business development, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 

 

This exciting role builds external partnerships to create unique and tailored opportunities for Huron students to work with professionals that are aligned with their career aspirations and help demonstrate the value of a Liberal Arts education at Huron 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Research and identify potential employer partners for internships, employment, or volunteer opportunities. 
  • Initiate contact and build relationships with prospective employers and partners. 
  • Develop and present proposals to potential partners. 
  • Work with career development teams to co-construct and maintain internship and volunteer opportunities for Huron students. 
  • Maintain and nurture existing employer, volunteer, and mentorship partnerships using appropriate partnership management strategies. 
  • Manage any partnership issues or conflicts that arise with the support of the Manager, Career Development.
  • Organize regular meetings and updates with partners to educate, inform, collaborate, and share resources. 
  • Work closely with internal teams to align career development partnership strategies with organizational goals. 
  • Coordinate on campus and virtual engagement opportunities with partners. 
  • Collaborate with the Career Development Team members to gain insight into student interests to direct future prospecting. 
  • Develop and coordinate student employment training programs. 
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of partnerships, industry insights, emerging workforce trends, and identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. . 
  • Track and report on partnership performance metrics for senior management updated. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary education from an accredited institution; 
  • Two (2) years of related work experience, preferably in a post-secondary or educational setting;
  • Prior experience related to business development, account coordination, sales or recruitment experience would be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of job markets and occupations as well as graduate degrees and/or certifications required for success in a career path; 
  • An understanding of best practices, programs, and models related to career development and internship programs for post-secondary students; 
  • Flexibility to work outside of traditional office hours and travel to partner events and networking opportunities as required; 
  • Proficient in working with MS Office suite products, including Excel; 
  • Experience working with Salesforce would be considered an asset; 
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills to represent Huron in a professional manner and support a variety of inquiries; 
  • A strong attention to detail and accuracy as it relates to data entry;
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines; 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skill; 
  • An open, inviting and approachable personality that allows the opportunity to build meaningful, trusting relationships;
  • Ability to work with diverse communities with respect, sensitivity, creativity, innovation, and cultural understanding.
