Summer External Relations Assistant
Position Status: 37.5 hours per week for 7-16 weeks
Location: London, Ontario
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Please note that the availability and terms of this position is dependent on approval of financing from Service Canada. Positions through Service Canada the candidates must be:
Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment - as per the Canada Summer Job Program requirements.
A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Summer External Relations Assistant will assist virtually with maintaining and updating digital records, providing administrative support, and conducting research, with a focus on Government Relations and Alumni Relations.
What You’ll Be Doing
Maintain and update digital records on Raiser’s Edge
Research grants & opportunities within the provincial government and community organizations suitable for our organization
Support the implementation of projects and initiatives developed by the Let’s Talk Science Alumni Council
Provide administrative support to the Alumni Council, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, following up on action items, organizing relevant data, and preparing and mailing out letters to alumni as required
Assist in maintaining and growing the Let's Talk Science Alumni LinkedIn page
Help identify and support opportunities to leverage Alumni thought leadership
Other duties as requested/required that are within the scope of the position
Requirements/Qualifications
Some post-secondary education or experience in a related discipline
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and videoconferencing applications
Demonstrated Internet research skills and ability to learn new software
Naturally organized, self-starter with a systems thinking orientation and strong project coordination skills
Works both independently and cooperatively in a team environment, while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to the changing circumstances and priorities of a dynamic organization
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to take initiative and problem solve
Ensures professionalism, confidentiality, diplomacy and tact
Bilingual (English and French) an asset
Skills and Experience the External Relations Assistant will Gain
Computer, research, data entry and analysis skills
Interpersonal skills, working in a team environment
Problem solving and organizational skills
Experience working in a professional not-for-profit education environment
