Overall Responsibility:
The IT Network & Systems Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and administrative assistance to the Information Technology department, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the facility’s systems and network infrastructure. This role provides user support to the Canadian employee base, maintains hardware and software environments, supports operational technology needs in the manufacturing setting, and contributes to IT projects as assigned by the IT Manager. The Specialist plays a key role in service request management, system monitoring, endpoint maintenance, and continuous improvement of IT services to ensure operational uptime and high internal customer satisfaction.
Accountabilities:
Technical Support & Service Request Management
- Manage daily IT service requests and incidents through the Help Desk system.
- Provide end-user support for computers, printers, mobile devices, and software applications.
- Maintain positive customer service interactions and deliver timely resolutions.
Systems Administration
- Execute software deployments through the Systems Management Appliance (e.g., KACE).
- Maintain software version control and apply required updates, patches, and upgrades.
- Monitor monthly security patching schedules and address compliance issues.
- Support desktop and laptop refresh cycles, including imaging and OS upgrades.
Network & Security Support
- Monitor network and system alerts, performing basic triage and escalation where necessary.
- Track and maintain antivirus compliance (e.g., McAfee).
- Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues and support local infrastructure requirements.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate hardware asset tagging and inventory records.
- Manage warranty renewals for PCs and printers.
- Order and track printer consumables and end-user accessories (keyboards, mice, etc.).
Vendor & Project Support
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for hardware and software support needs.
- Assist with IT improvement initiatives and projects under the direction of the IT Manager.
- Prepare and update basic reports from the Help Desk system (including KACE database reporting).
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Computer or Network Administration, Information Technology, or related field.
- 0–5 years of relevant experience in IT support, systems administration, or technical service.
- Experience working with Help Desk systems is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and basic network issues.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience with systems management tools (KACE or equivalent) preferred.
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports using relational database concepts (asset).
- Solid understanding of security patching processes and endpoint compliance.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and escalate appropriately when needed.
