Job Summary:
Senior Planners support the execution of the strategic vision for data and analytics, aligning to broader business objectives, and engaging with Business, IT and external vendors to ensure data & analytics initiatives drive business value and progress WSIB as an insights driven organization.
More specifically, this temporary Senior Planner CBIA role will be dedicated to advancing the Data, Reporting, Analytics and AI workstream for Digital Transformation Program initiatives.
The Senior Planner will engage with WSIB business partners and Corporate Business Information and Analytics (CBIA) to support the implementation of Digital Transformation Program initiatives, including requirements for downstream analytics architecture and ecosystem, Google Analytics, and the build/enhancement of Power BI reporting and analytics solutions. This role will also support the testing and validation of the data integration pipeline from upstream online services to our Microsoft Azure Data Lake (Centralized Data Store).
Prior experience with digital transformation initiatives, and knowledge of Google Analytics and the Microscot Azure BI stack, including Power BI, is preferred.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Provide support and advice to CBIA management to assist in the development of the business plan that aligns with and supports outcomes:
- Participate in CBIA multiyear business planning.
- Prepare briefing materials, status and assessment reports for CBIA VP and management.
- Conduct process mapping and support identification of business process improvements.
- Lead, facilitate, participate and present at CBIA Governing Bodies such as Enterprise Data & Analytics Council, Data Steward Working Group, COE Community of Practice.
- Lead and execute on initiatives for VP office aligned to data and analytics priorities.
- Collaborate and/or lead with CBIA VP office the planning and facilitating of all staff events including Divisional Retreats and including bringing on guest speakers and establishing agendas.
- In collaboration with senior leaders in CBIA, contribute to the development, execution and support of the annual employee engagement action plan based on employee engagement results and other CBIA Surveys
- Participate in Business Continuity Planning to identify and mitigate against internal and external risks.
- Assist VP office in the creation and issuance of Polls and Surveys
- Lead the development and execution of CBIA training plan (including technical and non-technical topics) within budget
- Share experience and provide ideas/insights on administrative best practices to CBIA and VPO staff
2. Provide technical expertise and guidance on data & analytic projects and initiatives for WSIB
- Collaborate on developing integrated project plans inclusive of data and analytic deliverables and milestones
- Conduct and deliver impact assessments fit gap assessments, SWOT analysis, with options and recommendations.
- Collaborate with project members to identify and mitigate for risks, issues, actions decisions that may impact successful delivery of the project or initiative.
- Provide support and guidance to CIBA staffs in data analysis and data modeling to meet client needs while adhering to WSIB data and analytic standards and best practices
- Respond and deliver ono ad hoc requests for information and analysis to drive business decisions.
- Create test plans and actively participate in the various test cycles of a project
- Participate and collaborate on IT Blue Prints, requirements and development workshops and sprints to ensure data and analytics are identified and addressed
- Recommend, create and deliver analytic products, tools and services as required
- Conduct knowledge transfer sessions of learnings and deliver business and technical training to business and CBIA staff
3. Collaborate on the enhancement of WSIB data and analytics capabilities and deliver on new services, tools, products and solutions to the organization by
- Facilitating data and analytic requirements gathering workshops with CBIA clients
- Conducting analytical reviews of complex data sets to extract actionable insights, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations
- Design, implement and maintain operational processes that support divisional priorities.
- Support the delivery, remediation, testing, validation of our analytics applications and environments, products and solutions, robotic process automations, artificial intelligence models and others as identified.
- Design and deliver new analytic products and solutions to augment self-service analytics for CBIA clients
- Working with business partners to develop and execute data quality improvement test plans and create defect management and remediation plans
- Assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of business training, change management activities and client support models.
- Working with IT in order to exchange information and work collaboratively on resolving internal and external customer issues as it relates to data and analytics.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships across the organization in order to exchange information and work collaboratively on resolving internal and external stakeholder issues.
4. Support CBIA Management to establish and maintain an advanced level of data and analytic literacy across the organization
- Share knowledge and expertise on WSIB’s Data Governance Program with clients and system partners
- Active engagement with Data Owners, Stewards, Supports and Custodians to share and discuss data governance and data quality issues, challenges and opportunities
- Participate in data quality management activities to ensure data is complete and accurate for consumption including but not limited to critical data identification, data cataloguing, lineage, defining and executing data quality rules
- Create innovation solutions to enable the sharing and monitoring of data governance and quality activities and progress across the Organization
- Support the maintenance of data governance tools, internal controls and processes
- Support CBIA management in the maintenance of WSIB Data Stewardship structure, LMS courses related to data and analytics, frameworks and roadmaps.
- Respond to emerging and/or urgent data and analytic priorities and issues by providing technical support and guidance on issue analysis, continuous improvement approaches, tools and methodologies to ensure responsiveness to address.
- Engaging and working collaboratively with business partners (i.e. Data Stewards, Data Custodians) as required, to identify improvement opportunities and gaps, and to develop mitigations and solutions to address.
- Annual review and input on data and analytic policies and standards

- Degree in Business/ Economics / Statistics / Mathematics
- Degree in Business Analytics / Data Science/Data Engineering/Technical Writing
- Project Management Certification
- Business Analysis Certification
- Programing language certification in SQL, R, Python, SAS
2. Experience:
Minimum Level Required
- 4 years WSIB experience or equivalent
- 2 years minimum experience in Operations or Employer Services or Corporate Services & IT Cluster or equivalent
Preferred Level
- 7 years WSIB experience or equivalent
- 3 yrs leadership or project experience
