About the Role
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting accounting operations. Responsibilities include administering accounts payable, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries and preparing reports. With meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in accounting software, they contribute to the integrity and efficiency of the finance department.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the following key areas:
Execute day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger
Support treasury activities, including cash flow monitoring and bank reconciliations
Assist in managing accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment execution, account reconciliations, and vendor/customer communications
Ensure timely and accurate payments and collections while maintaining strong internal controls and adhering to fraud prevention practices
Contribute to month-end close processes by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and provide support during external audits
Respond to internal stakeholder requests for financial information and insights
Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and operational needs
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who brings some or all of the following:
Diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts receivable/payable or general accounting role
Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting softwares (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Hybrid Work Details: We operate in a hybrid work environment, with employees primarily working remotely. This role requires in-office attendance on the second and third Wednesday of each month, as well as during critical periods such as month-end close and the annual audit. Additional in-office days may be required on an as-needed basis with reasonable notice. Our office is located at 100 Dundas Street, London, Ontario.
Compensation
Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000
A typical hire for this role generally falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal equity. Employees grow through the range based on performance and demonstrated competencies.
