Workday Sustainment Analyst - Finance

Note: This is a hybrid position with occasional in-person work in London, Ontario.

Fanshawe College is undergoing an exciting multi-phase ERP transformation through Fanshawe One powered by Workday, a strategic initiative aimed at modernizing our core administrative systems for employees and students. The project was designed with 3 phases: Phase 1 Core HCM and Finance, Phase 2 Advanced Planning and Phase 3 Student. With Phase 1 complete, we have created a Sustainment Team to support the HCM and Finance modules. As each phase completes, the Sustainment Team will need to support all live modules.

We are seeking dedicated professionals to join the Sustainment Team and support the ongoing success of our Fanshawe One powered by Workday implementation. As we transition from legacy systems, this team plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations, continuous improvement, and user support.

Summary Under the general direction of the Workday Sustainment Lead - Finance, the Workday Sustainment Analyst - Finance supports the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Workday finance modules to ensure they meet the organizational financial needs and enhance user experience. This role involves assisting with finance-related projects, integrating Workday into existing financial workflows, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance. The Analyst manages financial data, ensures its accuracy and compliance, generates reports and dashboards to aid in financial decision-making, and conducts system testing and quality assurance checks to ensure data accuracy, functionality, and adherence to financial processes. Additionally, the Analyst works to improve financial operational processes, maintains standard operating procedures, and provides support to end-users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Workday Finance Support: Provide ongoing support for Workday Finance modules (GL, AP, AR, Budgeting, Procurement), act as subject matter expert, resolve incidents, and guide end-users through training and documentation.
  • Configuration & Optimization: Troubleshoot and configure Workday finance processes, ensure compliance with policies and regulations, implement improvements, and participate in testing updates and new releases.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Develop and maintain custom finance reports and dashboards, ensure data accuracy for audits, and support data migration and cleanup efforts.
  • Collaboration & Training: Work closely with cross-functional teams, assist in creating training materials, and engage in user groups to stay current on Workday Financial Management best practices.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support finance operations and system sustainment.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years finance experience with reports, analysis, and a solid understanding of finance operations within an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system context
  • Minimum 2 years experience providing functional and technical support in a Workday environment, specifically in financial management
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Familiarity with both unionized and non-unionized working environments would be an asset
  • Financial experience in public sector environment an asset
  • Knowledge of Finance modules and reporting tools
  • Understanding of financial procedures, policies, and collective agreements
  • Experience in supporting finance-related projects & business needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changes and contribute to process improvements
