Department Description

 

Biomedical Engineering 

Reporting to the Manager, the Biomedical Technician facilitates the deployment, management, planned maintenance and repairs, service contracts, device integration and shipping logistics of mobile Class I Medical Devices. In addition, the Biomedical Technician provides support as required to the Biomedical Engineering Technologists. The Biomedical Technician works with clinicians, hospital support staff, hospital partners and vendors to ensure that this equipment is safe and available for use by patients and staff to meet the needs of the organization.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay:       $32.59 per hour - $37.26 per hour

Hours of Work:   37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year Engineering Technician diploma (ex. Electromechanical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Computer Systems) or as acceptable by the hospital.
  • Minimum one (1) year recent, related experience in a hospital or clinical setting or equivalent
  • Advanced technical service skills
  • Proficient in documentation and recordkeeping skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Censitrac, Aeroscout RTLS, Mobile Device Applications, Asset Enterprise)
  • Demonstrated experience working as a flexible, reliable and versatile member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to principles of patient and family centred care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

     

Teaching, Learning and Research 

 

 

London Health Sciences Centre is proudly one of Canada's largest acute-care teaching and research hospitals. Immunization Requirements 

 

 

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: 

 

 

Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis; 

 

 

Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
