The Cyber Security Developer is responsible for designing, creating, monitoring and maintaining cyber security solutions that protect the Healthcare Service Providers (HSPs) across the South West Local Delivery Group (LDG). This position works closely with many diverse and dynamic teams, including, but not limited to:

  • Healthcare Service Providers (their leadership, IT/Security/Biomed teams and end users)
  • LDG Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) team 
  • LDG leadership
  • Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs)
  • Ontario Health (OH)
  • Federal departments (e.g.Canadian Centre for Cybersecurity)

 

The core mission of the Cyber Security Developer is to extend, connect, and automate the security ecosystem. Rather than simply configuring off-the-shelf tools, the developer writes code to make those tools work together, fills gaps where commercial products fall short, and builds internal platforms that empower the broader security team. The Cyber Security Developer works to continuously improve the security posture/maturity across HSPs and work with other LDGs, the province and federal agencies to collectively defend the public sector.

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Build, deploy, and maintain security infrastructure and tooling across endpoint, network, cloud, and identity domains.
  • Establish and enforce software development practices, including version control, code reviews, testing standards, and SDLC compliance.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, testing, and deployments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies.
  • Improve platform reliability through Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve platform reliability through automation, monitoring, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop custom security tools, integrations, and automation capabilities to improve operational efficiency, orchestration, threat intelligence enrichment, event correlation, and response workflows.
  • Manage the security data and analytics platform, including data ingestion/parsing/enrichment, pipeline/query/storage optimization, detection engineering (rules, correlations, alerting), and analytics.
  • Design and maintain operational dashboards, reporting, and metrics that support threat monitoring, incident response, decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Monitor and manage platform performance through KPIs and SLOs, ensuring alignment with service, performance and organizational objectives.

 

What we offer:

 

Rate of Pay: $40.17 per hour to $50.23 per hour

Status: Regular Full-Time

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year College Diploma in Cyber Security, Computer Sciences, or related as acceptable to the Hospital required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or computer engineering preferred
  • Certification in CKAD, HashiCorp Certified, CSSLP, GREM, OSCP, GEH, GPEN, GWAPT, CISSP, GCTI, or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of recent, related experience required
  • Experience in: Software development (Python preferred), Scripting, Databases, Common Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Technical Documentation, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Sciences, Statistical Analysis, Data Visualization, Operating Systems, Networking, Controls/Frameworks, Risk Management
  • Demonstrated ability in Critical/Analytical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, Project Management
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
