The Medical Device Reprocessing Attendant reports to the Coordinator, Sterile Processing Department and is responsible for cleaning, assembling, packaging and sterilization of all instruments and supplies for the operating room and inpatient and outpatient clinics. This position involves the handling of a wide variety of complicated instruments. The environment can be challenging due to tight time pressures, the need to be precise in handling instruments and the potential impact on patient care. The position is physically demanding requiring lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and standing.

Rate of Pay: $28.22 per hour - $30.11 per hour

Hours of Work: Regular Part-time
Shifts and placements subject to change in accordance with the Collective Agreement

Qualifications

 
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent acceptable to the Hospital
  • Successful completion of a Sterile Processing Certificate
  • Successful completion of a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CSA) certificate
  • Recent Sterile Processing or Medical Device Reprocessing experience
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
  • Knowledge of routine infection control practices
  • Able to accept accountability for operation of machinery
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated record of satisfactory work performance
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (Windows and Internet)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English in order to follow directions and communicate effectively
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and as a team member
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements

 

Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to:

  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis;
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
  • Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated
