Responsibilities

The Transition Programs Student Coordinator (TPSC) serves as a central student leadership role within Transition, Leadership, and Enrichment (TLE). The TPSC provides leadership to the Off-Campus Leadership Team (OCLT); coordinates Orientation Week and Western Launch program planning; supports year-round Soph engagement; facilitates ongoing communication between Orientation Leadership Teams, campus partners, and Orientation stakeholders; and contributes to departmental programming within TLE.

The TPSC works closely with the TLE team and other campus partners to deliver engaging, fun, and substance-free orientation and transition experiences for new to Western students. The TPSC functions as a central point of leadership, information, and organizational support for the OCLT and Western Launch Student Leaders. The TPSC assists with recruiting and selecting Soph teams; planning Orientation Week programming, budgets, and merchandise; and facilitating team-building activities. They also support the recruitment, training, and supervision of the Western Launch Student Leader team and coordinate Western Launch summer programming.
Please note that there is potential for full-time summer work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a current undergraduate student and returning as an undergraduate student for the duration of the role.
  • Previous leadership experience (Orientation Leader, Faculty Council, Staff, the University Students’ Council, etc.) is preferred.
  • G1 (or higher) driving license preferred.
  • Background in peer coaching, training, and event planning.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours, including some evenings and weekends when required.
  • The TPSC will not carry any other orientation or staff roles for the duration of the position (Staff or Soph).

  • Currently registered full-time Western student.
